I just saw this. She was definitely the best teacher ever had in my entire life. I was an awkward kid, but she treated me with dignity and respect, and I learned a lot I can speak to this

Pam, and, I just want to express our condolences to the entire Arazoza family. I taught with Mirta for many years, at EHS, taught/coached Eddie, and, Pam had the privilege of working with Dr. Arazoza at RGH. We will miss her dearly. She was one of my dearest colleagues at EHS.

Dear Eddie, Judy and entire Arazoza family,
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom, Mrs. Arazoza. Some of my fondest memories in high school were in her Spanish class, filled with fun and learning. She had a knack for engaging students that is a model to teachers everywhere.
When a student was not prepared for class and said their book was in their locker, my favorite quote of hers ensued:
"Is your locker taking Spanish?
Try to top that humor embedded in direct critique!
Rest in peace Mrs. Arazoza, we all learned Spanish from you, and so much more.

She taught me to love the Spanish language. I wish she could have known that I minored in Spanish at the Univ of Rochester. Jean Sloane-Reeves class of 1964.

I met Mirta on my first day of teaching at Eastridge, and a lasting friendship began at that first meeting. I enjoyed her humor and admired her concern for her students and her many friends.
My thoughts are with her entire family.

I was an occasional victim of the eraser being pitched, class of 1987. How i loved her for it! My heart is saddened, Senora Arizoza made every class fun. I will never forget how important and special I felt when, after a trip abroad, she brought me a bull fighting poster WITH MY NAME PRINTED ON IT! I hung that poster in my room until it finally fell apart with age. Gracias a buena maestra.

To the Arazoza family. All of our condolences. Your mother was very special and she and Senor visited my mother often when she was here and terminally ill. We will never forget her.

I am at a loss for words. Sra. Arazoza was my Spanish teacher at Eastridge in the 1960s. She introduced her students to classical guitar music when she took us to hear Segovia perform at the Eastman Theatre. She was a great teacher and a wonderful person. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Arazoza.

Condolences to Sra. Arazoza's family and friends.
Sra. Arazoza was my teacher at EHS in the late 1960s. She went out of her way on several occasions to look out for me and help me.
One kindness I remember was when I was in Spanish club and had signed up to make the paella for the International Dinner. (What was I thinking?) The night before the dinner, I became very sick and was still sick the next day. I was mortified and called the school to leave a message for Sra. Arazoza that I would be unable to make the paella. So, at the last minute, she made the paella in my place. She also made a plate up for me from the dinner and had a classmate deliver it to my house.
I spoke with her when she stopped by my class's "30-something" reunion in 2001. When I asked, she verified that she had been "involved" in a special effort that a few teachers made to help out my family one year. I think she was being modest because I had always suspected that she organized the entire thing.
I won't forget her.

I'm apologe for my lengthy message but I would like Mrs. Arazoza's family to know the impact she had on my life and ultimately my kids (even though they never lived in Rochester). Because of her the following happened: I loved learning Spanish, it was my minor in college, it led me to a life-altering semester at the Univ of Puerto Rico and the stories from that were the driving force behind my oldest daughter's semester in Barcelona, my youngest child learned Spanish before English thanks to his Venezuelan babysitter, and that same child loved learning Spanish too. Lastly, I could not put my finger until now why going to Cuba has been on my bucket list. It's because of her... I'm glad I got to thank her many years ago for the influence she had on my life. Thank you again.
