Bill Young was a friend of everyone within minutes of meeting him. One day probably 3 decades ago in my early 20's, I cut out an article on Bill fascinated with his travels and love of flyfishing and learned that he might give a rookie fly fisherman a lesson. Coincidently my mom cut out the same article and actually called Bill and arranged a lesson for my birthday which in itself was an incredibly kind memory I think of often since she passed away many years ago. Upon arriving at his beautiful home Bill was quick to engage in conversation and really get to know each other's passions. After casting on the lawn and pond and discussing various casting techniques and even giving speycasting a try, Bill drove me around in his golf cart, toured his wine cellar and even visited where his favorite spot to read and write showing me his favorite books and telling stories of his fascinating life and family. I have always cherished that visit and Bill's genuine warmth and charm. Bill certainly focused on what he loved in life - family, friends, and his many passions. Thank you Bill and his family and my mom for meeting someone who has had a lasting impact on so many of us.

Youngie represented everything good about the PENN experience. He shared his experiences and took in so many of us as a "friend for life". He surely had Red and Blue in his veins.
God bless you and look after you, Youngie.
