William Brosch Obituary

Brosch, William John

Gates: William John "Billy" Brosch, a longtime resident of Gates, New York, died Tuesday, September 2nd after a brief illness with his good friends Justin and Frank at his side. He was born in Rochester on April 9th, 1952, son of William J. Brosch, Jr. and June A. (Overton) Brosch. He was educated locally and in St. Petersburg, Florida and graduated from Spencerport High School in 1970.

From his youngest years Billy demonstrated a skill and passion for automotives, from working with his dad at his service station and later at Gateway Auto Parts, to his partnership at B & D Total Performance, to his most recent management position at Auto Finishers of Rochester. An integral member of the local racing community, Billy was known affectionately by many good friends as the local "guru of speed." He was the go-to guy for two generations of local car enthusiasts, and he loved the work that he did.

Survivors include his Mother, June A. Brosch of Spencerport, two sisters, Wendy B. Dwyer and Gayla B. Snowdon of New Hampshire, a brother-in-law, John Snowdon of New Hampshire, a niece, Valerie Snowdon, two nephews, Jeffrey M. Dwyer, and Christopher J. Snowdon, all of Boston, Massachusetts, and many good and caring friends. His father, William J. Brosch, Jr. passed away on April 23, 2014, and his uncle John "Jack" Brosch died many years previously.

At Billy's request, there will be no calling hours or services. Instead, the family requests that his many good friends share with each other their memories of his friendship, skill, and generosity.

To Bill's family and work family, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I knew Bill way back when in high school. We went to his Senior Prom together and would touch base on occasion when he was in town after high school. I remember Bill as being very kind and very passionate about his cars. He will be missed.

Billy will be truly missed by many people. He was a great friend/big brother for 30 years. Building hot rods wont be the same without him in the picture. I remember the day I met him like it was yesterday and I am glad me and frank were there with him at his bedside when he took his last breath. My family will never forget him.

Good-bye, my brother. I will carry forward our times together the rest of my life. Only for you, Go Yankees! To those closest to him, words simply cannot convey our family's deep gratitude, especially to to Justin, Frank and Anthony for being such great friends to Billy, as well as to all of the friends who gathered at the hospital Tuesday night. You were Billy's "second family". You made Billy's life special and we are incredibly grateful to each of you. I wish I could have heard those stories!
