I had so many wonderful teachers growing up in Brockport, but Mary was extra special. Fourth grade was hands down the best because of her. Our birthdays were a day apart and we stayed connected because of that all the way through my high school years and beyond. I´ve thought about her often through the years, not only on her birthday but ALWAYS on her birthday. The most amazing woman and I´m so grateful to have known her.

Mary, you and Ruth gave me a great gift of renewed hope and enthusiasm for a story written in what had come to seem like a very distant past. Thank you for re-lighting that candle and for the friendship we shared these past few years. I only wish it had been longer. Love to you and yours.

Mary was a beautiful person full of grace. She did not let any physical challenges stop her from living and enjoying life and her family and friends. As Editor of the LBCC Banner she united the residents and staff, and turned out a beautiful work as a team effort with her daughter, Amber.Michael and Amber-Mary loved you and all of her family so very much. She and David share a beautiful love and respect for one another. Wife,Mother,Teacher, and friend-thank you Mary for touching our lives-we love you and will always remember you.

Mary Fessenden and I have been friends for forty years. She was my student teacher at Barclay School and we were thrilled to be teaching in the same building after she graduated. Her enthusiasm and joy for teaching was always there...and she had that spark for the creative to the end. We were like kindred spirits and loved getting together to reminiace and laugh. Mary will always have a special place in my heart. What a personality. What a teacher. Lucky us who witnessed her life! Her example will guide us still.

I had Mrs. Fessenden as a teacher all those years ago. She was an inspiration to me. Taught me so many things. She will always have a special place in my heart, because she meant so much to me. She was an amazing teacher and most of all an amazing person. Mrs. Fessenden you will be greatly missed.

I am deeply saddened by Mary's passing but am grateful to have been priveleged enough to have known and been mentored by such a gifted and loving person.
Mary was my sponsor teacher in Brockport, N.Y. at the Barclay Elementary School. It was through her that I learned what excellent teaching was. What I learned from Mary has been an integral part of my teaching each and every day that I enter the classroom. Teaching flowed naturally from Mary and I have yet to see anyone, including myself, be able to replicate the ease and finesse that came so easily to her. The love and devotion that she showed to her students and fellow colleagues was unsurpassed by any other. She remained a friend of mine and a mentor in my teaching career. She was a remarkable person and her gentle caring ways will always be instilled in my memory. I know without a doubt that she is in a wonderful place now and is looking down upon us all smiling that beautiful smile with a child on her lap reading a wonderful piece of literature. Mary had a unique gift and I was blessed to learn from the very best and was able to call her friend.
