John Haggerty Obituary

Haggerty, John J. "Jack"

Pittsford: February 23, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer at age 80. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen (Story) Haggerty; children, Brendan, Patrick and Bridget (Blaine) Leipold; grandsons, Jamieson and Riley.

Jack was born in Buffalo and was the son of Aloyisous and Frances (Easley) Haggerty. He graduated from Our Lady of Victory High School and attended the University of Buffalo and Buffalo State College. Jack was a US Army Veteran and served as a Military Policeman in Germany. He later moved to Rochester to embark on an extremely successful 56 years with Met Life and Met Financial Services. He was a positive mentor to many with whom he worked. Jack was a member of and honored by several professional organizations. Jack was a member of St. Louis Parish. He loved sailing, golfing and skiing with his family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Muhul Patel and Dr. John Genier and the staff at the Lipson Cancer Center for their loving care.

Friends may call Wednesday, 4-7 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, 11 AM at St. Louis Church, 60 S. Main St. Pittsford. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1120 S. Goodman St. Rochester, 14620. Bridget, Blaine, Riley, and Jamieson, We are so very sorry for your loss. It was obvious to all who met Jack what a wonderful, special, loving person he was. He will be greatly missed. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Mary Ellen And Family,
Am so sorry to hear of your loss.Although I had not seen Jack in the intervening years until our 50th year
OLV reunion,I remember thinking after meeting you for the first time that you had each found your soul mate. May the memories and love he leaves live on forever and sustain you, your children and grandchildren. My deepest sympathy, Bud Carroll

Bridget, Blaine and Riley, I am so very sorry to hear of Jack's passing. I always enjoyed seeing him at Riley's football and lacrosse games. He was a proud grandpa and a true gentleman.
