I cannot remember a time in my life when Bert wasn't there somewhere and even now, he will remain. From my little brother spending money my mom gave him for a haircut on candy and getting chased back down to Ernie's for a refund and back to Bert for that haircut--to my neice thinking she lived on Sesame Street because Bert & Ernie lived in our neighborhood and asking Bert where Oscar was--to my marriage and Bert cutting Ed's hair--to cutting all of my 3 boys hair. My oldest tells the story of when he and my nephew were
about six or seven and they both had long "tails" (as was the rage) hanging down their back, but school was starting so we took them to Bert for a haircut. My nephew got up in the chair and Bert asked him if he wanted to keep his tail and he said yes, so Bert cut it off and handed it to him saying "There you go." Needless to say my nephew was not happy, but it is one of their most repeated tales of nostalgia! He was there always with his humour, with his compassion, through everyday times-celebratory times-unbelievably hard times like the death of my little brother and later my dad and my mom, even just to give me a hug or a kind word. He maybe never thought much about it, he enjoyed many friends and acquaintances in his life, but he has been a touchstone in my life, our lives always! I'm glad I got to tell him I loved him the last time I saw him, and I know he'll be sitting on the bleachers at my husbands championship softball games next week !
We love you Molly & Cherie! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire Hogan Family. Chris Lucero (Edgewater native--Wheat Ridge resident)

To Molly and Family, Bert was a good man,
I always loved his quick wit and sence of humor. He gave a sense of comfort to his community and friends. to me those types of people are far and few between these days. It's funny today I was just thinking about him today when I was getting my hair cut. I remember telling him ,when He cut my hair, to make me look good. Ya now what he said in return always, was, "Hey buddy, this ain't no magic wand , it's just a pair of scissors". Love you Bert and Molly and Family. The Luceros
