A man named David came our way with a message of encouragement and a vision for a community. He cared, he dared, he was a man filled with God's love, and he demonstrated the strength of that love with his family and friends. This man, this David, will be missed on earth, but his place is now with a God that loves and knows him best. God bless your spirit now, David, as you are present with Him.
(I just heard of David's passing today, on his birthday.)

I just learned of David's passing. David mentored me when I moved away from Denver to accept a job in Lincoln, NE in May, 1990. He was a kind man with a gentle spirit and I will miss him. I pray your strength in the Lord. Radious (Tulsa, OK)

David was such a beautiful spirit. The one word I would use to describe him was 'loyal.' He was a loyal and genuine friend to the end. Over the course of time, I have come to know that life is experienced in time and everything eventually passes away. Rest in peace my friend for our journey together has come to a end and your new journey has only just begun. Winona and the Thompson family, cherish the memories and legacy David etched on your heart. Give Maude a big hug and kiss for me and Kam. I know she was a part of your welcome delegation. Forever stamped on my heart. Love always. Charlotte Ayeni (Denver, CO)

Winona,
Monya and I just learned of David's transition. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to you and David's entire family. During my trip to Denver just last month he spoke to me "brother to brother" about certain things in his life. Most poignantly, he spoke about having an opportunity to care for his wife and the fact that, while many would be burdened by it, he felt blessed to have the chance. I will miss David but I have to let him go because I know he's gone to prepare a place for his beloved wife. Much Love.

David, your magnetic smile and caring attitude will be deeply missed. I pray for comfort and peace for Winona and your family during this difficult time. I knew you to be a man who exemplified the word commitment. Your actions spoke louder than any words. You would take the time to listen when there was none-- offering kind words, support, and encouragement. You came through time after time for family and friends. You have left heart prints in the lives of all those who knew and loved you. May you rest in peace my dear friend, and enjoy the celebration of your life as God and his angels welcome you home.

To the Thompson family. I just met David a couple months ago he was helping me to find a new home. It has been a few weeks since I have last seen him and he was in good spirit and laughter was what I I remember about him the most. However, one thing that stood out about him was that he loved the LORD. I know in my heart that he is truly at rest and now on a journey that all of us want to enjoy. He is in the arms of the LORD. May GOD Bless you and keep you. You are in my prayers.

David, I am going to miss you. For 35 years you were my best friend and closest confidant. All though I am sadden, I know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. My prayers will continue for Winona and the rest of your family. Matthew 25:23 says "His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter you into the joy of your lord." Rest In Peace.
