NORMAN NEWTON Obituary

Norm Newton, 71, of Louisville, Colorado, passed away May 8, 2010, at Frasier Meadows Health Care Center in Boulder from lung cancer. He was born June 24, 1938, in Sterling, Colorado to Reva Good Newton and Merle Arthur Newton. After several years growing up in Laramie, Wyoming, Norm moved with his family to Wheat Ridge, Colorado, where he graduated from high school in 1956. He was a member of Acacia fraternity at Kansas State University and graduated in 1961 with a degree in mechanical engineering. That year he married Barbara Howard, the mother of their two children. They later divorced. Norm is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rosalie Lane Newton; his son Bradley (Laura) Newton of Roswell, New Mexico; his daughter, Nancy (Jeff) Wilson and grandchildren Garrett and Jenna Wilson of Overland Park, Kansas; step-daughters Laura Brasel of Littleton, Elizabeth Brasel of Longmont and Julia (David) Hersh of Centennial; step-grandchildren Whitney Newton and Alexander Brasel; sister Marilyn (Dan) Hershberger of Arvada and brother Robert Newton (Carol Bass) of Littlejohn Island, Maine. Norm was an executive with several companies, including Samsonite in Denver, The Netherlands, Belgium and Mexico and Atari in Ireland. His greatest satisfaction, however, was helping small companies become successful. During his career, Norm made many lifelong friends. In his free time, Norm loved to fly fish, golf, ski, travel, cook and read. Norm was a member of Rock Creek Church in Louisville and was involved in the acquisition of the church property and renovation of the facility after it was purchased in 2006. Until his illness prevented further involvement, he was active in the plans to build an addition to the church for children and youth. A memorial service will be held at Rock Creek Church, 225 Majestic View Dr. (west off McCaslin Blvd. south of South Boulder Rd.) in Louisville on Saturday, May 15 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Norm Newton Memorial Fund at Rock Creek Church, 726 Front Street, Suite A, Louisville, Colorado 80027, or the charity of your choice.

As we approach Father's Day, I'm remembering my dad in so many ways. I send my love to him in Heaven, and I also send my love to all of his family and friends who are missing him now. We will all be joined together in Heaven some day, and what a celebration that will be!

Norm and I shared many traits. We both only talk when we need to. We both love fly fishing. We both drive too fast. We both enjoy being outdoors. We both take care of those we love. The service was very moving. I miss him. The Trout Extravaganza will miss him.

Norm was a great friend and Brother in Christ. He was the best...I met Norm 20 years ago through our Trout Extravaganza fly fishing group and have endless memories of him with big fish on his line! Our 2005 Alaska bush plane adventure was a trip of a lifetime. I know he is with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and is at peace...Rosalie, may God Bless you and your family and give you strength.

Norm has, and always will have, a special place in my heart. He was a special friend to Gary, and became a special friend to me, at a time when I needed one. A good, kind, funny, and caring person who will be sorely missed. Gary will be so happy to see his friend. God Bless you Rosalie, my love goes out to you and the family.

Norm was a wonderful person that was a joy to be around. He was one of the nicest people that my husband and I ever worked with. He was genuine, kind and loyal. He will greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. God Bless you Rosalie, and give you and the family peace in your time of sorrow knowing that Norm is not suffering any more.
