Frank Siconolfi Obituary

89, a resident of Westminster, Colo. and a pioneer in the printing business, passed away on Jan. 6. Born in Olyphant, Pa., he lived most of his life in New York City before moving to Colorado in 2008. Frank was a leader in the field of flexography, which uses flexible plates to print packaging materials from plastic bags to milk cartons to candy and food wrappers. He wrote a seminal 1991 book on the industry, "Flexography: Principles and Practices" and in 1995 was voted into the Flexographic Technical Association's Hall of Fame. A World War II veteran, he was an Army Air Corps engineer who trained in Pueblo, Colo., and flew in B24 bombers in missions over Italy and and Northern Africa. His hobbies included boating, painting, computers and music, and he loved to laugh and spend time with his family. He is survived by his wife Francine, of Westminster; daughter Cathy of Erie; son Michael, daughter-in-law Lisa and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Jessica, of Manhasset, N.Y.; sister Rose, who lives with her husband Frank in East Northport, N.Y.; and a host of nephews and nieces. A memorial service for Frank will be held at a later date.

A good friend when we worked together at Matthews years ago. A true gentleman I'm sorry I didn't know of his passing until today.
