JERRY ROMNEY Obituary

Jerry Elwood Romney Jr. 1953 ~ 2009 Jerry Elwood Romney Jr. passed away in the early morning hour of Friday Sept. 18, 2009.He was born Nov. 2, 1953 in Tooele, Utah. Jerry grew up in Salt Lake Valley where he attended Skyline High School and the University of Utah. Jerry will be missed by all who knew him. He always had a home where all were welcome and invited to enjoy his hospitality and great food. His talents in the kitchen were legendary. His peaceful demeanor made all people around him feel welcome and comfortable. In business Jerry had great success where he founded and grew a company which employed 4000 people. He was nominated for entrepreneur of the year by the governor of Utah. Jerry's greatest strength was his love for people. In his beautiful eyes you could see an endless amount of love, admiration, warmth, kindness, and trust. He saw only the good in everything. Jerry was a wonderful father, brother, and friend. Jerry is survived by his son Jerry III , daughter Andrea, their mother Sandra Romney, father Jerry Elwood, mother Lola Lucille, brothers Jeffrey J. I remember Jerry as being one of my brother Eric's best friends in highschool. Eric was deeply saddened when I relayed the news of his passing and wanted me to extend his condolences to Jerry's family. He has many good memories of their days together and regrets he had lost touch with him over the years.

Jerry was a great person, I worked for Jerry in the Telecom industry back in the mid 90's. A true man to all.

I was so sad and heart broken to hear of the passing of one of my dearest and best friends. After I heard I went down to the river to try to gather all of the memories of the times JR and I spent together and to say goodby.
The thousands of hours we spent in a duck blind or on a river fishing. The camping and hunting trips and the trips to Baja. There are so many memories that I will always cherish. There is one very special memory that I would like to share.
A number of years ago after I had recently gotten out of the hospital from a heart problem, JR called and asked if I was well enough to take a trip. He booked the flights and made all of the arrangements for a fishing trip down by Corpus Christi for Redfish. All I had to do was get myself to Salt Lake and everything else was taken care of. He knew that I was up in Island Park alone and that the best thing for me was to get away and do some fishing. His concern and overwhelming generosity is just how JR was. He never wanted or expected anything in return. He was just a true friend.
To the family and especially Sandy and the kids I convey my deepest sympathy and sorrow.
To JR, thanks for all the memories my dear friend. You will truly be missed and always be remembered.

To the Romney Family:
I last communicated with Jerry August 5th, he was going to have one of his fabulous get togethers and after many years our trails had crossed. That party had to be canceled due to his pressing responsibilities and I was looking forward to seeing him in the near future and a great time getting all caught up. Well I will miss our chance to get together for the rest of my life, Jerry and I shared many Sunrises and Sunsets while trekking Mountains and Marshes. I will be seeing him in future Sunrises and Sunsets. His gentle nature will always be appreciated by me. He always had time for me and I felt so welcomed by Jerry. My Heart goes out to Sandy and the Kids.
I am so lucky to have had both Jerry and Sandy in my life. His spirit will be echoed in mine for ever.
Friend Tad Swaner (White Bear) Peace & Love to all of the Romney Family.

For many years as a friend of Jerry's son I have had the great fortune of being a recipient of Jerry's endless kindness. As I sit back now in remembrance I am simply overwhelmed at the generosity he showed to me over the years. I can only imagine how many people he similarly touched.

I will miss you Big Jerry.

My sincerest condolences to all those who knew and loved Jerry, especially to his son who will always be one of my dearest friends.

Throughout a 24 year history of operating a company within the telecom industry, I've come to know literally thousands of people similarly involved; and I can say without a doubt Jerry was one of the finest I ever came to know. His creative thinking, his honesty and integrity, his willingness to be supportive and share his knowledge and innovative thoughts with others, and his business acumen towards finding niche ideas, and often succeeding at the next difficult challenge - bringing such ideas to fruition and purpose within the industry, were quite unique.
Those he inspired to join him in these efforts shared his vision, and working with his company was always one of the more joyful, spirited and satisfying aspects of my work through the years.
He will be greatly missed by those of us who knew him and considered him to be a friend as well as a business associate.
My thoughts and prayers are with Jerry and his family.

Jerry Romney was a amazing person. I never knew anyone as accepting and as forgiving as he was. He was a intellectual happy beautiful person. I will remember his cheesy jokes and laugh the most. He will be missed and kept in our hearts. We love you Jerry and look forward to seeing you on the other side.

It is with great sadness that I learned of Jerry's death. I knew Jerry professionally through his work in the telecommunications industry. But you could not work with him without feeling his friendship and warmth. He was always a gentleman and welcoming individual. Many benefitted from his successful efforts to promote the industry, but when discussing him most people talked about the pleasure of his company. We will miss him. My condolences to his children, family and friends. I will remember Jerry and all of you in my prayers.
