Bruce Barrett Obituary

Bruce Arnie Barrett Jr. 1929 ~ 2010 Bruce Arnie Barrett Jr., age 80, passed away September 4, 2010 in Orem, Utah. He was born October 21, 1929 to Bruce Arnie Barrett Sr. and Josie Myrtle Ross in Salt Lake City, Utah. Throughout his life he was active in the LDS church. He served in the Army Air Corps in the Occupational Army stationed in Japan as a photographer. After his honorable discharge from the military he enrolled at BYU. During his studies he was employed by the University and after his graduation his position turned into a fulltime career. He worked for BYU in various departments until his retirement. He accomplished much during his career. Bruce had among other things a significant influence in the development of the Married Student Housing as the program exists today. He also was a key part of the conception, development and implementation of the Laundry Services Department. Bruce enjoyed hunting, sailing, camping, gardening, photography, and caring for both wild and domesticated birds and animals. Bruce is survived by his sisters Joyce Kerr and DeLona Wuthrich, his six children, Michael, Kim, John, Jeff, Brian, and Patrick, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem. Visitation will be prior to the service at 9:00 a.m. in the same location. Interment will be held in the Logan City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
