LINDA BISSON Obituary

Linda Bisson 1952 ~ 2009 Linda Elizabeth Hampton Bisson, beloved wife mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of December 17, 2009. She was 57 years old. Tender, kind hearted, and generous, Linda spent much of her life in love, compassion, and sincere service. Mother of five, and "nana" to four grand children, her occupations included copy editor for the Desert News and writer of the teacher's manuals for seminaries and special education for the LDS church. Linda had astounding passion in life for her family, sewing, cooking, serving others, and especially in service along side her husband as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. She also served on committees that edited and published General Conference talks for the church. In the final years of her life, Linda inspired us all through her humor and endurance despite her struggles from a traumatic brain injury in March of 2008. Linda was preceded in death by two children, Melanie and Ryan. She is survived by her husband, William; and children, Amy (Tony) Akin (34), David (29), and Michelle (22). We miss you dearly mommy. A viewing will be held Mon Dec. 21, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. in the LDS Church located at 7511 S. 2700 W. in West Jordan, UT, Funeral services will be held in the same building the following day, Tuesday Dec. 22, 2009, starting at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing before from 9:30-10:45. Interment at the Salt Lake Cemetery.

I only knew Linda through our work together at the Jordan River Temple, but you could tell that she was such a caring, loving person. She worked so hard to get back to the Temple after her brain surgery, it was really miraculous that she was able to return and share her spirit with others. Even without hair, she was lovely. Our thoughts and prayers have been with you since we found out about her death. God Bless You, William, Amy, David and Michelle--he will comfort you and help you to remember the good times as well as the hard ones where you struggled and won. Now she will never have to go through all the pain and suffering, and she will have no trouble remembering what she has learned.

William: It was hard for me to learn that Linda is gone. My memories go back so far! High school fun, and we were roomates our freshman year at BYU. Do you remember that I sat at your guest book at your wedding? I love you both very much and wish you much peace through this holiday season and through the weeks ahead.

Dear William, Amy, David, Michelle: I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your beautiful wife and mother. I saw Linda at the store a few months ago and had a wonderful conversation with her. She had lost her hair and weight and I almost didn't recognize her until I saw those beautiful eyes and face. She was a remarkable woman who made a huge impact on my life. In fact your whole family has been such a blessing to our family. Thank you Williams for teaching my children in seminary and I especially enjoyed your Sunday School lessons and stories of your growing up. Amy, you were the most wonderful YW class president and I was always so impressed with all your talents and how you grew spiritually so fast and remained strong and true to yourself. Linda suffered a lot throughout her life but she remained true to her Savior and raised an amazing family. Linda left her mark on many people. God bless you with peace and comfort during this difficult time. We don't always know why it was her time to go, we just know God called her home. Remember she will always be with you. You won't be alone. I love you all so much.

There are certain people who come into our life and their tender touch never leaves us. One of these dear people in my life returned to her Heavenly Father this week. Linda Bisson was (and still is) a dear friend of mine. It never mattered how many years passed between our visits. Whenever we talked or ran into each other the sincere love that Linda had for me always shown in her voice or as a sparkle in her eye.

I have many precious memories with Linda. She took me under her wing when I was a self conscious young girl and helped me catch a small glimpse of who I might become... If only I believed in myself as much as she believed in me. I remember one particular moment when Linda gave me a sincere compliment and I disagreed with her for the last time. She looked me in the eye and said, "Just say thank you!" I was deeply touched by this simple yet profound lesson that she taught me and I try to pass the lesson on whenever the chance arrives. Linda saw greatness in me. For that I will always be grateful.

Linda (and her dear William) came to me during one of the most difficult times in my life. I had just lost one of my little girls and I was sitting in the hospital hoping that I would be able to keep her twin sister. William and Linda surprised me with a visit to my hospital bed. They shared their love with me along with the testimony they had gained together that I would be with my little girl again. They had been in my shoes many years ago when they lost their little girl. To have their love and testimony wrapped around me during that time was a gift I will treasure forever.

Now as I am forced to say goodbye to Linda for now, I cling to the memories of her Love. I cherish the witness of her strength and fighting spirit. Even during the darkest hours of her life she chose to fight on, if for no one else but her precious family. For those of us who are left behind, we marvel at the tapestry she has woven throughout her life and thank our Father in Heaven for allowing us the privilege to be a part of that masterpiece.

Thank you dear Linda for your love and your life. You will be forever missed. Enjoy that unfathomable feeling of being pain and sorrow free. We look forward to twirling in our beautiful white dresses right along side you as we dance together to heaven's songs when our time comes. God Bless you precious sister... Until we meet again!
