Lynn Bandley Obituary

Lynn Marie Bates Bandley
1957~2014
Salt Lake City, UT-Lynn left this mortal life surrounded by her loved ones on July 3, 2014 at the age of 57. She was born in Walnut Creek, California on September 6, 1957 to Dee and Donna Bates. The fourth born of six children, Lynn was blessed to be raised in a loving home. She moved to Salt Lake City, Utah after meeting her eternal companion, Rees Walter Bandley. They married April 16th 1987, and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple with their daughters, Tori and Nicole.
Lynn loved the outdoors. She enjoyed traveling to Southern Utah, camping, gardening and riding her bike. Lynn was always known for her baking, making perfect pies and those famous oatmeal raisin cookies. For her, the real joy in baking was sharing the finished product with all those who entered her home. Lynn loved spending time with her grandchildren on walks, doodling with side walk chalk, solving puzzles and building snowmen in the back-yard. Her deep love for children extended into her professional life where she devoted twenty years working at the Montessori Community School as the Director of Admissions. She loved the people she worked with, staff, parents and children alike. Lynn gave years of love and service for the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. She and her husband served in many church callings and had just completed a 2 year service mission. Her faith and testimony remained strong throughout her life, a beacon to those who knew her. Lynn was a constant example of joy, gratitude and service. She chose to be happy and to bring sunshine into the lives of others, even through great pain in the remaining years of her life. She will never be forgotten and we know she will continue to watch over us. Lynn is survived by her parents Dee and Donna Bates, her loving husband Rees Walter Bandley, her two daughters Tori Lane Bandley and Nicole Jacobs (Josh), eight grandchildren, her siblings Dianna, David (Debbie), Marsha (Dane), Reid (Kathy), Susan (Brett) and many other friends and family.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Rose Park North Stake Center, 1155 North 1200 West SLC. Viewings will be held Thursday, July 10, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Mountain View Memorial Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South in Cottonwood Heights and before the services on Friday at the Church from 9:00-10:30 am.

Despite meeting Lynn only in her last few months in visits to the hospital, my spirits were lifted whenever I saw her and Rees. Even in her pain, she was willing to do whatever it took to be part of the global fight against this terrible illness. My thoughts and prayers are with the Bandley family. God Bless.

Rees and family, i just heard of her passing today. Alittle late to attend the funeral. I worked for Wonder Bread, and got to work with her a few times filling in for other workers. She was such a joy to be around, and her kind and thoughtful ways, was just amazing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all. She's in a better place now. God bless!! Barbara King

Lynn had such a great way of making you feel happy. Her smile, laugh and interest in others just added a warmth and joy in my life. She never sought attention to herself but easily shared her interest in others. What a wonderful sister to have in my life. I miss her already.

I am so happy you were able to leave this earth knowing that I would take care of your daughter and grand children . I gave you no reason to believe this early on, So it really means alot to me that I was able to make certain changes before you left us. YOuve raised a great daughter. I thank you for that. Its an honor to be a part of your family, and to know that your proud of me .

We've gone on a long journey my Brother. Like you I have Loved Ones waiting. I often think I wish I would have done more for The Cause ... I wish I would have 'straightened out' sooner...but what matters is that we found HIM. Lynn is there as we are here...yet they come and help us along the way. It won't be long until all the tears are dried forever and we will never miss anyone again. As my Aunt Mildred always said; "PRAISE the LORD". Your in my prayers Brother. If you ever need to talk or a hug...I'm here. Jerry Owens
