Michael Gallegos Obituary
1973 - 2012
Our wonderful husband and daddy, Michael Gallegos, was tragically taken from us on June 23, 2012. He was born April 5, 1973 to Catherine Sherwood and Gilbert Gallegos in Salt Lake City. He graduated from the U of U and continued to be a huge Ute fan. "Everyone Bleeds Red."
He coached girls golf, girls softball, Highland High wrestling and several High School football teams, most recently at Cottonwood High. He worked at Highland High School. In his spare time he loved cooking, golfing, fishing and being with his family. He married Debbie Anderson in the Lake Temple on April 12, 2003. He was active in the LDS Church, served in the Elders Quorum Presidency, and most recently served as an Elders Quorum Instructor.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Debbie, his children Kyrsten (age 7), Nathan (age 5) and his sister Christina Gallegos. Please Don't Drink and Drive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Valley Park 4th Ward, 2603 West 4700 South. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment at Valley View Memorial Park.
Donations can be made to the Michael Gallegos memorial fund at Granite Credit Union or America First Credit Union.

I remember every time I tried to skip class Mike was there to tell me turn around ! He did it with a smile and a joke. I hadn't seen him in 7 years but I went back to get a copy of my transcripts and he remembered who I was. That's the type of guy Mike was, he took pride in his work and cared about the students at Highland. Thanks for the laughs Mike! Rest in Peace

I have only known mike for a short time since all of your famiy has moved into our ward. The thing that I will remember most about mike is the long talks we have had about the concern he ahs for his children, ecspecially the goals he wants for nathan to achieve. He is so getle, kind and loving to his cildren. What an amazing father. I will do my best to help nantan achieve the goals mike wanted for him. We wil surely miss u!!

I knew Mike from Hawthorn Elementary school, and had not seen him for well over 20 years. But if he was anything like the friend that I knew back then, he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He was a kind, good person... and that is how I will remember him. I have known Mike since we were 6 years old and I cannot imagine the world without him in it. Mike always made a point to keep in touch and see how things were going, he was genuinly a caring person who thought of others first. I know he loved you and his family more than anything! Micheal and I survived K-12 together, even attending the hallowed South High for its last year. He was an ambitious and kind person who continued to give back to his community and friends as part of his life's mission. He is no doubt missed by many, especially his family. I stand here looking for words to summarize who you were and who you were to me and I can't find them. I can say that you were true to yourself, a great friend, you had excellent taste in music although I kind of question some of it, and you never stopped telling me how much you loved your wife and children. I met Debbie at the year end wrestling banquet and told Mike he married "up"...he got a big grin and said "I sure did!" He was very proud of his famly. Dear Gallegos Family,
In the early 1980's Cathy,Gil, Michael and Christina were our neighbors on Roosevelt Avenue. When my son was born Cathy had Michael give him many of his toys as she said he had out grown them. I had a chance to coach with Mike at Highland back when we were both starting out and played alot of footballl with him in our flag league. I'll never forget the talks Mike and I had while he was manning the library at church. Sometimes about his golf game, sometimes about football, sometimes about the Utes. Always good conversations because we both loved sports.
