Miria Killpack Obituary

Miria M. Killpack
"Missey"
"Hoa Aroha"
Miria (Missey) Elaine Marsh Killpack passed away at her home in Murray, Utah early Sunday morning on May 27, 2012. She had endured a long and courageous battle with cancer. Missey was born on February 20, 1964 in Dannevirke, New Zealand to Richard and Elaine Marsh. She grew up in that beautiful setting, and the loving Maori culture. She came from New Zealand to Utah in 1984 and was married to Greg Killpack on February 14, 1985 in the Jordan River temple. Greg is the son of Robert and Dorothy Killpack of West Jordan, Utah.
There was no one more patriotic than Missey, and "hope" was her middle name. She had a tremendous ability to love others and was fearless, bold, humble and guileless. Missey was very creative and had many talents which blessed the lives of everyone. Her crafts were beautiful and her singing voice a treat. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her selfless love and beauty.
Missey was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was blessed with that great Polynesian faith. She often expressed gratitude for the Atonement of the Savior and found great comfort in the scriptures.
Missey is preceded in death by her sister, Minola. She is survived by her parents, Richard and Elaine Marsh; husband, R. Gregory Killpack; son, Ryan; and daughter, Kassandra; also survived by her brothers and sisters in New Zealand: Awhitia (Justin), Duncan (Celeste), Kingi, Ronald (Ngai), Moana (John), Aparata (Wayne), Hohepa (Aroha) and Hyrum (Pania) and many other family members who loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Murray Parkway LDS Stake Center, 619 West 5750 South, Murray, Utah. Viewings for family and friends will be held at church Friday, June 1st from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers and to assist with final expenses an account has been established at Zion's Bank, 5595 So. State St., Murray, Utah, 84107, ph. 801.974-8800 in the name of Miria (Missey) Elaine Marsh Killpack. Thank you for your support and kindness.

I loved meeting my Moari cousin, in Salt Lake City after having visiting her family in New Zealand in 1994. Oh, how I loved spending time with her Mum and Dad (Elaine & Richard) and Auntie Polly and her family. I treasure my kinship with my Maori Marsh Family. Love to you all.

I know the angels in Heaven are rejoicing to welcome our beautiful Missey home, but we on Earth have lost a wonderful mother, wife, and friend. Missey was a joy and a light to this world. She made it a much better and happier place, and she made us better people just for knowing her. Words can't express our sorrow, but know that she will always be there to comfort and cheer you and lift you up. She's always led the way and she continues to do so. She showed by example how important it is to follow your heart. All my love and prayers are with Greg, Ryan, and Kassey and all those who loved our Missey.

Missey,
If you look in the dictionary under the words love, Christ-like, sunshine, service, happiness, giver, courageous, faith, best hugs ever your picture would be displayed as an example. I only knew you a very short time but the impact you made on me will be eternal. May your family and friends be blessed with comfort, love and peace.

Greg, Ryan, and Kassey I'm so sorry for the loss of your cute Mom and wife. We love your family and are grateful to have you as friends and neighbors.
Over the last 8 years I have enjoyed having Missy as my neighbor but more importantly my good friend. She taught me a lot of lessons about service and faith. She would do anything for anybody with no questions asked. She was a perfect example of someone who endured to the end. Over the last few months I would stop in to check on her and I would find her reading and studying the scriptures on a lot of those mornings and she would always find something she needed to hear that day. I enjoyed our talks during those moments and will always value that time. We love Missey and miss her already. You guys are in our thoughts and prayers.
