Wilford Goodwill Obituary

Wilford W. Goodwill In Loving Memory Wilford W. Goodwill, 90, born November 16, 1917, son of Tom and Jessie Goodwill passed away due to heart complications on August 19th, 2008. Wilford served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand. He returned to marry the love of his life, Dorothy Porter on May 3, 1941 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Wilford was best known for his entrepreneurial spirit and his commitment to hard work and big dreams. The grandkids would often play a game where they would try and name a place he hadn't been. Wilford was able to channel his energies into his Humanitarian efforts. Wilford followed this up by establishing the Goodwill Family Foundation which provides funding for the W.D. Goodwill Initiatives on Aging and Neighbors Helping Neighbors programs which provide assistance to deserving senior citizens who have fallen through the "cracks" of our welfare system. The Goodwill Family Foundation also provides scholarships to students who have chosen educational pursuits dedicated to issues affecting the elderly. Current seniors in Utah will benefit as well as future generations from the legacy of Wilford W. Goodwill. Services will be held at 12 noon p.m. on Sat., August 23, 2008 at the Mt. Olympus 12th Ward located at 4176 S. Adonis Drive (3950 E.) with a viewing one hour prior. A viewing will also be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, located at 4670 S. As a recipient of the scholarship for social work, I truly appreciate Wilf's vison. I enjoyed working with him on the Neighbor's Helping Neighbor's project for 5 years. And I am now serving seniors, families and children in a medically underserved area of Oregon as a licensed clinical social worker. Lives are improved because of Wilf and I hope I can continue to pass on his legacy.
Condolences to the family,

Hello Aunt Dorothy,

I'm so sorry to learn of Uncle Wilf's passing. He has always been that one amazing person we imagined would outlive us all. No doubt he's now in the most wonderful place, watching over you with love.

We love you Aunt Dorothy, and we'll all miss Uncle Wilf.

PS I'm sure he's up in heaven making business deals, and he's probably already drawing up plans for your next house. Uncle Wilf was never one to waste time!
