Brother De Hoyos is a major influence in my life at BYU because his testimony guided me to repentance and understanding of my worth as a child of Heavenly Father. My life changed forever as a student there and I am grateful for the blessing of his testimony of the Savior.

In 1972 I was finishing my last semesters at BYU abd struggling with my future career. His counsel and advice put on a career path that I have now served for 45 years. I remain most grateful for his influence in my life.

I am deeply sorry to all the family De Hoyos for the loss if this wonderful and impecable person. I was thought by him several times at the Hispanic University and a Young Single adults meeting. I will never forget when he said I quote " if you do not know English, then dont eat until you learn it" He was a man of such an incredible vision on Eduation and other important affairs. I am sorry to write this note late but I am living in Cancun, Mexico and did not know about his death.

Brother De Hoyos was a man of God, always willing to serve others and making sure that he left them better than the way he found them. This man helped me personally at a time when my integrity was in question. I will forever be grateful to him for believing in me and for the help that he provided at the time when I needed it the most.
May the Lord bless you today and forever. Rest in peace. Love you dearly.

Our deepest condolences to Genevieve and Family. May our Heavenly Father be with all your Family during this time.
I love Arturo. He changed the course of my eternal life!
I came to BYU in 1971, not knowing anything about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Arturo was the Branch President of the only Spanish-speaking Branch in Provo, UT. Arturo along with his 1st Counselor, Fred Nelson taught me the truthfulness of the gospel. Arturo baptized me, and I was later confirmed a member of the Church. Because Arturo has been such a great example to me over the past forty-six (46)years, we remained very close friends, brothers in the Faith, and most importantly, as a second Father to me. He taught me wonderful lessons of faith, loving family, country and preparation for the next life.
The greatest lesson I learned from Arturo was how to be a Disciple of Jesus Christ. Arturo followed Christ, not only by words, but, by all his actions in loving and helping his brothers and sisters.
Muchas gracias, Presidente DeHoyos!
With love and respect,
Jesus Guillermo Martinez y Familia
