John Addison Bennion
1947 ~ 2011
We are very sad at the death of John Addison Bennion on December 14, 2011. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 27, 1947 and lived in Aurora, Colorado most recently. He died of natural causes related to congestive heart disease.
He is predeceased by parents Thomas Addison Bennion and Norma Young Stack. John grew up in Salt Lake City, graduating from Highland High School in 1965 where he was a member of the school band and ROTC. He attended the University of Utah and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He served in the US Army, and was based in Germany for 4 years.
He married Merlyn Shields (later divorced) and Robyn Hurst (later divorced) and is survived by children Cassondra Morrison, Cherie Jackson, Aimee Bennion , Melissa Bennion, John Bennion, Laura Breivik and sisters Catherine Whitesides, Marianne Brooks, and Jeanette Bennion, and 5 grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 3rd from 6-8 PM at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple. A Graveside service will be held for John on Wednesday, January 4th at 11 AM at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 S. He will be remembered for his love of music, skiing, and life.
