Nicholas Anderson Obituary

Nicholas (Nick) Blake Anderson
1975 ~ 2013
Nicholas (Nick) Blake Anderson of Hyrum, Utah, suffered a ruptured arterial aneurysm in the brain January 9, which ended his mortal life of 37 years, on Thursday, January 10, 2013. Nick was the oldest of six children born to Rian and Jane Anderson of Fairview, Utah. He was born in Logan, Utah, October 28, 1975, during the time his father was attending Utah State University - a devoted true-blue "Aggie" from the very start.Nick grew up in Fairview, Utah, working alongside his dad on their family sheep ranch where he took on responsibility at an early age and developed a great work ethic. He was active in sports, an Eagle Scout, and Senior class president of North Sanpete High School. He served an LDS mission to the Czech Republic. After his mission, while attending Snow College, Nick found his eternal companion, Katherine Mabey, daughter of Kent and Joyce Mabey of West Jordan, Utah. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 29, 1997. They both graduated from Snow College and completed their education at Utah State University. Nick received a bachelor's degree in business. Nick and Katherine and their three children made their home in Hyrum, Utah. Nick was serving as Elders Quorum President and was employed at Utah State University as Facilities Manager, overseeing the care and maintenance of the university's buildings. Nick loved sports of all kinds. He ran marathons and Ragnar relay races and was an avid Aggie fan, but his greatest love was his wife and family. His main focus in life was bringing them joy and happiness. He was also very devoted to his parents, grandmother, and brother and sisters, and loved the Mabey family as his own. He was a great friend to everyone and was loved by all who knew him.Nick is survived by his wife, Katherine; his three children, Thomas Blake (13), Annelise (11), and Christopher Rian (9); his parents, Rian and Jane Anderson; brother James Adrian Anderson (Tracey); sisters, Autumn Kirkham (Jason), Janille Olson (Michael), Natalie Bradley (Stephen) and Tonya Syme (Matthew); and grandmother, Norma Elaine Anderson Wocknitz.
There will be a viewing for family and friends at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan, Utah, on Monday evening, January 14, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at the LDS chapel at 600 South 200 East, Hyrum, Utah on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 12:00 noon, with a viewing prior to the services from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Hyrum City Cemetery. Anderson family, my heart hurts as i think of Nick's passing. It was an honor to serve with him in the Czech Republic mission. He was a gentle giant. Much love and prayers.

I'm in shock to hear of Nick's passing. I served in the same city as him at the end of my mission. He was truly like a brother, always kind and protective of his fellow sister missionaries. Sending Katherine and the children our love from Canada.

I had a unique opportunity, I was one of Katherine's roommates and witnessed the two fall in love. Nick became a fixture in the Alamo and we all loved him. Our prayers are with Katherine and her children.

Dear Catherine and Family,
I worked with Nick at Ross and my heart is hurting with Nicks passing. He was the nicest and most caring man I have known. I loved to hear his voice and his laughter. When he would come into Ross with his kids you could tell what a special person he was. Heaven must have really needed another angel to have taken him from us. I am so glad to know he will be with his family again, he loved you so much. God bless you and your family.

Katherine,
I just wanted you to know that my heart goes out to you at this time. I love your family dearly. I'm grateful that we got to live in the same ward for a short time. I was so sad when you moved to Hyrum. Your husband was an awesome person. I wish I could be there to give you a hug. You are in my prayers and I hope that you will find the comfort that you need at this time. I think of my time with your family often and I feel so grateful to know all of you and the strong people that you are. With love!

My deepest sympathy to the Anderson family. I got to know Nick through his position as facility manager at USU. I saw him as a professional in his field and a very caring person. So sorry to hear of his passing.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of such a wonderful man. My husband worked with Nick for almost 8 years on campus, and Nick was such a great mentor. Our hearts go out to his sweet wife and children whom he loved so much, as well as to his parents, siblings, and all his loved ones. The world needs more men who live with passion and great character like Nick did.

Elder Anderson and I talked often about eternal families. He was my first companion on my mission. Having just joined the church a year earlier, I had many questions. We had many good chats together. He was simply awesome. You will see him again and I pray that the Lord will comfort you until that time. Take Care
