I met Kay in 1970 as he and Margaret were friends with my In-Laws, Del and Rose Thorsness. I have Kay to thank for putting a good word in for me when I applied for the Pipe Trades Apprenticeship program at Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 19 in 1970. I am so very blessed to have had Kay mentor me into a career that has lasted 44 yrs. Kay was a very brilliant businessman and contractor. Kay was a man of extreme integrity and the most charismatic person I have ever known. My condolences go out to Margaret and all of her and Kay's children. Kay, the pleasure is all mine having the opportunity to call you Friend. You will forever be missed.

Dear Kay
I was so blessed to see You and Grandma this summer, you were the same Loving faces I remember as a child. I will always be grateful for the hospitality and kindness you have offered my family and I. As a child I remember visiting your house in Murray and playing in the basement. I can still remember how it smelled (It smelled good, the upstairs seemed to always smell of fresh paint) and the marble machine. You are lucky I ever left. I remember your son Hal and Lori teaching me to water ski at East Canyon Reservoir, I don't think I got any better. I am especially grateful for your son James. He taught me how to run pipe and the value of a great sense of humor. Both have served me well through the years. I love you and look forward to seeing you again.
P.S. I'm sorry I burned up your tiller. My dear sister Carol probably covered for me, you should've kicked my butt. Love You.

Dearest Uncle Kay you were truly above average. I loved being at your home where there was always laughter and great food. You kept your eye on me after my dad died and you were truly wonderful. So giving of your time, even coming to Seattle to visit. I love you and miss you and wish a happy reunion with you and your family in the eternities. Love Kristin Hansen Graves

I have wonderful memories of coming over to your house as a child, watching the 4 of you play cards.

I haven't stopped remembering often with a smile, our one of a kind Uncle Kay, since I heard about his passing. Our love, prayers and sympathy to our dear Aunt Margaret and wonderful cousins as you make plans for his service. We wish we could be with you, unfortunately we are at Greg's in Washington state. Much love,

Sad to hear that Kay passed away. He was a great guy and a good friend. I was always relieved and delighted to have Kay on my projects. I knew things would be done right without any hassle and, if we did have any issues, we could easily work them out. Kay's work ethic, witty observations, business ethics and good old 'common sense' made working with him a fun educational experience for all of us. I really admired Kay, and learned a lot working with him over the years. I never met a soul who didn't like Kay !

I have always loved Uncle Kay so much. He and Aunt Marge have always made me feel like they cared and I was important to them... I will miss him a lot. They are both so generous with their love and attention. My Grandma Iona must be the happiest girl around, though! She adored him and he had to be the world's best big brother to her! I wish I could be there Wednesday. Lots of love to Aunt Marge and all of you. -- Marie (Jill's daughter)
