Dad- I have been watching the Winter Olympics and they always remind me of you and when you ran the torch. It still doesn't seem real that you are gone. You are missed so very much. We love you!

Just watching the Olympic Trials and my thoughts wandered to Coach Stott. Coach Stott got me interested in running when I was in middle school. I ran through high school and attended college on a cross country scholarship. What a great man, mentor and coach.

It was my privilege to serve as a counselor to Bishop Stott. He loved to study the Gospel and was an outstanding teacher of the doctrine and the scriptures. We send our love and prayers to Suzanne and their family.

He was an amazing man. Had the privilege of having him as my gym teacher for three years as well as health teacher. Helped us young men relize the importance to having self confidence while competing in sports. He always had an open door for a troubled or confused kid, willing to help them find the right path.

As I was reading the obituary of a high school friend, I saw a familiar smile on the pages below. The smile of Coach Stott has never left my mind even though I have not seen him since I left Union Jr. High back in 1981. Coach had a very big influence on me as he was there for me when I was diagnosed with Diabetes at the age of 12 and then just a year later he was there for me again when my parents divorced. He was more than just a teacher, he was a friend and a man with a huge heart. I am forever grateful for him. He was an example that I will never forget. I know your family knows these things about him but thank you for sharing him with so many other people whose lives were blessed because of him! Ric Petersen

My heart goes to the Stott family at this time. Coach was my hands down favorite teacher as I'm sure MANY of my peers at union would agree! He never counted out us misfits and he always made me laugh! I remember one time a group of us wanted to put together a cake for a friends birthday and he let us do our class work in the closet and work on our cake! He had such a big heart and made learning history fun. Rest in peace coach.

I only had a chance to meet Jerry once, but he was clearly an amazing father as evidenced by my dear friend Cindee who is an AMAZING woman. I'm so sorry for your loss, but glad he's finally resting peacefully in no other place he'd rather be. My condolences.

Coach Stott was incredibly influential. I'll never forget the day he booted me from the ninth grade basketball team telling me not to return until my grades were back in check. A few days later I returned, but the lesson learned that day has stuck with me forever. Thoughts and prayers to the Stott family.

Sending love to the Stott Family at this tender time. I was a friend of Jerry's in the Edgehill Ward Scout Troop and Guide Patrol. Although we have not had contact for 60+ years, this association has blessed my life. Thanks to a great man who had a strong character and was an outstanding example even as a young man.

Jerry Stott was a great teacher of the scriptures and the restoration of the Gospel. His strong and enduring testimony of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ gave strength to others and lifted souls.
I've no doubt he is helping others and teaching the words of Christ to those in paradise.
But he will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Thank heaven, families are forever.

We will always remember Jerry as a kind and compassionate man, and a powerful spiritual leader during the time he served as our bishop. He supported us through one of the hardest points in our life with so much love and set a standard we have spoken of many times in the almost 20 years since then. He gave much. God bless.
