Lois Shay Obituary
West Valley City, UT-Lois Layton Shay died in her home on August 14, 2017 in West Valley City surrounded by most of her children. She was 89 years old. Lois was born May 5, 1928 in Salt Lake City, UT to her parents, Russell and Irma Layton. She attended South High School. She married William Wallis Shay on May 13, 1946. They raised twelve children together. She wore many hats working at Cummings Ice Cream, as a waitress, at Zims Crafts, K-D Novelty and Pinkerton Security. Mrs. Shay is survived by 4 sons and 6 daughters; Russell (Judy) Shay, Karen Bolton, Susan (John) McCrindle, John (Sharon) Shay, Nancy (Johannes) Ruegner, Frank (Peggy) Shay, Lynn (Dean) Farrington, Patrick Shay, Mary (Terry) Ewell and Brenda (Don) Zobell; 34 grandchildren and 91 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, and her sister, Wanda. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Wallis Shay; her daughter Katherine Craddock, her son Michael Shay and her great-grand-daughter Dakota Shay, her parents and step-mother, 3 step-brothers, 2 brothers, 1 sister. Funeral services will be held at 6710 W 4145 S, West Valley City on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 am with a viewing at 9:00 am. Mrs. Shay will be buried at Memorial Redwood Cemetery at 6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT 84123.
