Eugene Ives Obituary

EUGENE C. IVES Gene Ives, devoted husband and loving father, passed away after a long physical decline on March 22, 2013 in Victorville, CA. Originally from Nebraska, he spent the majority of his life in California, and also resided in Arkansas. A World War II veteran, he served his country in the Navy in time of war as a Radarman First Class on a PT boat. Gene is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna, and members of his immediate family as follows: his children: son, Gary (Cindy) Ives of Portland, OR; daughter-in-law Mary Ives of Houston, TX; daughter Sheree (John) Fitzgerald of Oxnard, CA; daughter Lori (Dave) Newman of Green Valley, AZ; daughter Lisa (David) Sears of Albuquerque, NM; and son Michael (Pam) Ives of Colorado Springs, CO. Grandchildren: Jason, Joel & Nathan Ives; Jamie Stefani, Jessie Ives & Shauna Burns; Jennifer Bavelas & Joshua Galland; Michael, Jeremiah and Gabriel Sears; Allen & Brianne Ives & Brooke Powell; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Donna (Dick) Billigneier of Grass Valley, CA; brother-in-law Frank Harvey of Santa Rosa, CA and numerous extended family members as well. Gene was predeceased by his son, Larry Ives, sister Mary Harvey, and his first wife Zelda. Gene was a retired electronic engineer, having retired from both Raytheon and General Dynamics Corporations. In his retirement he and Donna enjoyed many RV excursions, photography and visiting their family and friends along the way. His life was an honorable journey. The family wishes to acknowledge with gratitude the assistance from Charter Hospice for Gene's care in his last days. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 3 at 3 P.M. at Jess Ranch Community Church in Apple Valley, CA. Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
