Robert (Bob) Filling

Windsor Heights

Bob Filling, 76, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at his home. Visitation with his family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren's Chapel. A private family graveside service will be held at Resthaven Cemetery.

Bob was born in Cedar Rapids, IA the son of Charles and Pearl Filling. He worked at Firestone for many years and then for the Des Moines Public Schools for over 20 years. He was a member of Highland Park Christian Church.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Jeff (Cathy) of West Des Moines and Mark of Windsor Heights; two grandsons, Jacob of West Des Moines and Benjamin (Stephanie) of Ankeny; four great-granddaughters, Delaney, Macey, Jadyn and Mackenzie; five siblings, Jean Luedeman, Bill (Vicki) Filling, Twila Filling and Florence (Tom) Ritchie, all of Cedar Rapids, and Ann (Bill) Saxton of Surprise, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a son, Robert.

Bob enjoyed sports and he loved spending time with his grandsons and great-granddaughters.

Nancy: I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My mom told me Saturday evening. I am thankful I was able to see Bob and you last summer. It had been too long since I had last seen you both. I am sorry that it was my last chance to see my uncle. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
