Michael Broadie Obituary

Michael R. Broadie

Lancaster, PA

Michael R. Broadie, 75, of Lancaster, PA entered into the presence of his Lord on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Hospice of Lancaster County. Born November 15, 1936 in Granger, Iowa, he was the oldest son of the late William R. Broadie and Helen (Snedden) Broadie. He will be missed by his loving wife, Carol M. (Shelton) Broadie, to whom he would have been married for 34 years on June 23.

His mark of faith is felt heavily by both family and brothers and sisters in Christ. His faithful dedication to his bride and the Bride of Christ was rare. His final hour was spent praising Jesus Christ. His final words were, "Jesus Christ is Lord of all!"

In addition to his wife, Mr. Broadie is survived by his children: Bonnie Hogan; David Broadie, husband of Cindy; Barbara Broadie; Jeanne Moore, wife of Keith; Michael Broadie, husband of Kristy; and Matthew Broadie; sister: Susan Holben, wife of Jim; brothers: Richard Broadie; and Steve Broadie, husband of Barrie; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at the fellowship hall of the St. James Lutheran Church building, 5665 Merle Hay Rd., Johnston, Iowa 50131 with interment to follow at Lincoln Cemetery in Jefferson Township. Food and refreshments will be provided. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to assist the family in covering memorial expenses. Contributions may be made payable to David Broadie, 3103 North Pine St, Davenport, IA 52804.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always. He was my grandfather, and very close to my dad. I don't really remember him much, except for his smile. He will always be in our hearts.

A truly great man has been issued into the eternals where he now sees God face to face. And to Carol, Mike's wife: There can be no great man without an even greater wife. You are a testimony of the Lord Jesus on this earth, Carol. Thank you for always being there for Mike in your most tender and transparent ways. You are a treasure. God love you!
