Max was an amazing individual! He helped me develop a better appreciation and understanding of chemistry and its value outside the classroom. He helped me develop a sense of confidence in studying chemistry, and he was such a positive human being! I find myself using some of the teaching techniques he shared with me when I was his student. His Christian beliefs were very much a part of his character, and I know where he is. God Bless and continue to Comfort his family and loved ones. His legacy will continue to shine.

Max was a true leader on the war on drugs especially when Tarrant County was known as the amphetamine capital of United States. Max was a great asset to the citizens of Tarrant County and his expertise in the field of forensic chemistry was remarkable.

Courtney Family,
I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Max.
I always cherish the year I spent working at FCS. It was such a fun time getting to know everyone. Max was a plethora of information. I got more out of that year than all the years of University. From the chemistry done upstairs, to the crime scenes, to watching Max testify in court.
Max, you were a bright shining light to many!! I can just picture you singing your heart out to Jesus in Heaven! May you rest in peace.
And to the Courtney family, I don't need to tell you what a special gift you all had in Max. He was one in a million!
With Love,

My condolences to the family. I have had the honor of working with Max on both sides of the courtroom, and he was always a model of integrity. For 25 years I knew that Max was an excellent scientist and an honest witness, but it wasn't until 2009, when I sang in the St. Stephen choir, that I got to know Max as a great friend with a marvelous sense of humor. He will be missed.

I sent this previously but don't think it went thru,
so resending.
I am unbelievably sad--I only take comfort in knowing that Max has gone to a better place and
will not suffer any more. May God bless him and
the person he was to all of us. We will not see his
like again---always above and beyond reproach
and a true Texas treasure! From 1962- 2017, always
loved him! A blessing in my life. To Ginger and his
sons and daughter in law and adored grandchildren
peace be with you all. Gone but not forgotten and
singing in the heavenly choir now.
Sending love to all,
