Lee Monger Obituary

Lee Monger, 63, lost his short but hard-fought battle with cancer on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, surrounded by his family. Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Friday at Magnolia Motor Lounge, 3005 Morton, Fort Worth. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lee's memory to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Lee was born April 17, 1952, in Fort Worth to Robert Lee Monger Sr. (Bob Monger) and Marilyn McCombs Monger. He grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Southwest High School in 1970 and UTA in 1974. Lee worked in the electrical field, and he owned Monger & Associates with his dad, Bob Monger. Lee was married to Mary Jo Holloway-Monger, and they shared 18 years of fun and excitement. Lee had four children, Lindsay, Carrie, Christie and Robert Lee "Trey" Monger III and was affectionately known as "Pawpaw" to nine and "a half" grandchildren. Lee's good looks, charm and humor served him well throughout his life. He maintained a large circle of friends and was loved by so many. You were either drawn to or offended by his humor and quick wit. Music was his passion, especially classic rock. Lee introduced Trey, very early, to a wide variety of music, and they attended concerts and guitar shows together. Lee's family meant the world to him. He was always present for every family event especially birthdays, recitals and sports activities involving his children, grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He usually had a camera hanging around his neck to capture those special moments. Sometimes, he was affectionately referred to as "the tourist," and he was quick to reply: "I am a tourist. I've traveled from Carrollton." His smile, humor and kindness will be missed by all those who knew him. Lee was preceded in death by his grandparents; father; stepfather, Vernon Farris; and brother, Len Monger. Survivors: Wife, Mary Jo; children, Lindsay Monger Duncan and husband, Dusty, Carrie Monger McPherson and husband, Aaron, Trey Monger, and Christie Holloway and fiance, Barry Pan; grandchildren, Winter, Lennon, Dallas Duncan, Preston, Avery, Asher, and Myles McPherson, and Cameron and Madison Pan; his mother, Marilyn Farris; siblings, Terry Monger, Kay Monger Thomas, Vicki Farris McMillan; brothers-in-law, Gary Thomas and David McMillan; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends.

Lee will be missed by many people. Those of us in the electrical field will fondly remember him as a great co-worker, good electrician, and of course a good person to drink a beer with. I never saw Lee in a bad mood. He was always happy. His voice was so recognizable.
Mary Jo I am so sorry for your loss.

I will miss seeing Lee, his smile, wit and humor, and like Len, rarely a bad word to say about anyone or anything. Love to his great family, and a great legacy to carry on. I hope someone carries on his tradition of taking pictures of Kay with her mouth open! :)
