Barbara, Josh, and Callie, my family's thoughts and prayers go out to you. Jeff was such a huge influence in my life even though it seems so long ago. I still to this day think about how I became a part of the Storie family in 1992 and never dreamed that I would never see Jeff, Barbara, Josh, or Callie again. My family is here for you now, and can't wait to reunite soon. Kind regards, Kim Kelly-Speranza

Hi Mrs. Storie, Josh and Callie, A friend of mine asked me today for a reference for a fair, honest entertainment attorney, and the only name that came to mind was Jeff. I googled the firm for the number and I was shocked to see of his passing. He was such an influence on me and my career. I can't begin to tell you how much respect I had for him. And in all our conversations, family was always brought up and I know he loved you so much. He told me once, "no matter where your career goes, Bill, family is all that really matters." I will miss him dearly. I am just so sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Stan McFall

Barbara,
It was only a few days ago I learned of Jeff's death in the Samford alumni magazine.
I roomed with Jeff and Woods Watson from January to May 1982 during my first semester at Southwestern.
Jeff called me out of the blue a while back and we were able to catch up.
I believe you are from Owens Cross Roads. I served at First Baptist New Hope for seveal years and Jeff would call when you guys were in the area.
I am so sorry for your loss. What a great man.

Dear Barbara,
Jeff was part of the reason I'm married to my husband today, of almost 34 years! I met Jeff when I was 19. He helped me see that there could truly be a Godly man who did more than just talk. I am so sad to hear of his death. His legacy will continue for eternity. My husband and I had dinner with you in TX at I think it was Cheddar's. God bless you and I know our Lord will be faithful to walk with you on this difficult journey and carry you when you are too weary to walk it on your own. If you are ever in Washington DC, please contact us.

Dear Barbara, Josh and Callie: The day I found out that Jeff had gone to Heaven, a group from Glenview left for the Holy Land. It broke my heart for you, your families and all of us who will miss Jeff so. I'll never forget the great times I had with Jeff, especially when we spent time at the Baseball Hall of Fame. Jeff loved every minute of it! And it was a baseball education to hear all that he had stored up there in that amazing mind of his. I can only imagine what he's storing up now in Heaven and will tell us all when we get there. And Callie, remembering the hugs your Dad always gave you, I can only imagine - again - the hug your daddy will give you when we see him again with Jesus.
Please know that Cindy and I love you all and will continue to pray for you in the days ahead. Pastor Dennis and Cindy Baw and the membership of Glenview Baptist Church.

Dear Walden, Cora, and Sandy,
My name is Terry Dale Williams. I am Dale and Cleta Hill's oldest daughter. I was very sorry to hear of Jeff's passing. It's been about 40 years since I last saw you but I have very fond memories of the times our families got together. Jeff and I were the same age and he was one of my favorite family friends to visit with. I remember Jeff as being an exceptionally nice boy who wanted to be a lawyer when he grew up. I often thought about him over the years and wondered if he became a lawyer or if life took him another direction. I see now that he was an exceptional lawyer and a wonderful adult. This comes as no surprise. I'm proud to have known him. My condolences to you all.

I only met Jeff once, and I have never forgotten how warm and exuberant he was; and I was impressed with the enthusiasm with which he greeted my project, and the advice he gave. I just learned of his death, and I am so sorry to know that he is no longer in this world, just knowing he was here made me smile. My sincere condolences to his family for their loss.

My deepest sympathy is extended to Jeff's family for their loss. I went to high school with Jeff in Springboro, OH and knew him to be a wonderful, kind person. His parents are Godly people who raised him to know the Lord in a real way. In reading the comments of others, it is clear that Jeff continued to let God's love and light shine on through his life. May the comfort of the Lord be real to your family at this time.

I am posting on behalf of the Theta Kappa chapter of Delta Delta Delta at Southern Methodist University. I got to work with Jeff for our philanthropy event, Delta Diner. Never have I ever come across someone so kind and enthusiastic in my life. He went out of his way to ensure that our event was a hit. He bent over backwards to accomodate us and to guarantee the success of Delta Diner. He was such a pleasure to talk to (as I did call him constantly to make sure all the little details were taken care of). He truly wanted to get to know people for who they are and we are all very thankful to have met him and worked with him. May this good man rest in peace.

I worked with Jeff at the Gandy, Michener, Swindle, Whitaker & Pratt firm before leaving to work for Judge Belew in federal court. Although I have not seen Jeff in a very long time, I am nonetheless saddened by his passing. Jeff was a wonderful person. He was intelligent, compassionate, had great integrity and a quick wit. I have wonderful memories of him. It was easy to see Jeff’s faith in God, as he lived and shared it freely. He treated absolutely everyone with the same respect and courtesy regardless of their station in life. I am thankful for the blessing of Jeff's life. To his family, I am very sorry for your loss - From your hands into God’s arms. May God’s comfort and peace be with you.
Yours very truly,

When I found out that Mrs Gast had called about Jeff I was so excited thinking he may be coming home for a visit.. Home, we loved him so much here that we felt like we were home to him to. Jeff was about 19 but so mature in the ways of God.... He taught me how Cool Jesus was and introduced me to Amy Grant who was a dear friend of his... To a nine year old thats huge! He showed me more love and God through his actions than anyone Ive known. Thank you for sharing your Son with us in Romulus Alabama. He loved his family and his Lord. I will miss him here but know I will see him again one day.

Dear Storie Family,
Jeff was the youth leader at New Hope Baptist Church in Romulus, Alabama (the summer of 1980), when I was 12 years old and I remember it being the best summer ever. Our church had never had many young people and we never did anything fun because it was a small, rural church. But that summer, that one, glorious summer, because of Jeff and the Lord, our youth group grew in number, closeness, and in our walk with the Lord, and we were forever changed. I am 41 now and still remember how much of an impact Jeff had, not only on my life, but on that little community. We really appreciate the investment he made in us. He was truly a blessing to us and he will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. Prof. Storie was a great help to me when I took his class. He took time - he had extreme patience with the slow such as me. He allowed students to see that being an attorney was a great opportunity and responsibility, but you didn't have to be a stone face bore. He once wore a long red wig and pretended to be a musician to show what one might encounter in the IP world. It was wonderful!! My condolences to all that loved him and are left behind to mend and go on until Jesus calls. JC

Dear Barbara,
Jeff spent the summer of 1980 in Romulus, Alabama working with the youth at New Hope Baptist Church. We went from having about 5 teens on Sunday to 50 every time the church doors opened. After all these years those in their 40s and 50s talk about the summer Jeff was with us. He impacted lives of all ages. The McDuff family thought of him as a member. Don McDuff was crying as he told me about Jeff's passing.
Three weeks ago I emailed Jeff about his predictions for public schools and apologized for not taking him seriously as he accurately predicted the changes that have come.
He sent a kind email back reaffirming the friendships formed that summer.
We are adding your names to our prayer list. Know that 29 years later we remember how closely Jeff walked with God and showed His Love to others.

Barbara,
I worked as a secretary for Jeff at Decker, Jones in the early 1990's and was always inspired by his family devotion and love of the Lord. It was always such fun to have a conversation with him and see his smile light up when he talked about you and the kids. May the Lord give your family peace as you go through this difficult time.

I met Jeff through intellectual property management. I was a client in Fort Worth for an apparel brand distributed worldwide. Jeff mentored me along the many paths for trademark enforcement. Jeff quickly became more than just a business associate. Jeff was at the top of his profession in intellectual property law. He was one of the BEST in the country but he was even better at something much more important. Jeff was a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Jeff always centered me on the important things in life. Jeff, I will miss you and you’re perspective about business and life.

Barbara my prayers and thoughts have been with you the past several days constantly. As many have mentioned, Jeff ALWAYS managed to get your name and the kids in to his conversations. He adored you and the kids! He was such a Christ-Like example for other family men. I know God used him in that way often. As you know, we loved Jeff so much and appreciated his professionalism in handling our business. It of course is no surprised that the years we held the Hal Brooks Memorial Golf/Gala to raise funds for cancer and teens-in-crisis, Jeff donated hours of his time to help Mark with many of the details. He was my friend and I could always count on him to return my call or email me if I needed his advice. I have cried many selfish tears the last few days for my precious friend and for your family. But I know that the Lord is going to take care of you, Josh and Callie. Your amazing kids will carry on their daddy's legacy. We love you.

Barbara I have had you in my thoughts and prayers constantly. I know the Lord is going to take care of your precious family. As so many have written, it is true that Jeff ADORED you, Josh and Callie. He did speak of you in every conversation that we had. I know that God used him often as an example to other family men. Jeff was so generous to spend hours of his personal time helping Mark and I set up our foundation, The W. Hal Brooks Memorial. He was a special friend and would always be quick to return my calls or emails even though he was one of the busiest people I knew. He was so professional in handling our business...but we always ended up talking about either golf or the music business...I will miss those conversations deserpately. Babara, your precious kids, Josh and Callie will carry on his legacy beautifully.
We love your family.

I was fortunate to be introduced to Jeff when I moved to Fort Worth two years ago. He treated me like an old friend and delighted in learning we were fellow Miami graduates. Jeff's wisdom, decency and devotion to faith, family, colleagues and community were always on display when we got together. He was such a joy to spend time with. I was proud to share a connection to the Patent and Trademark Office with Jeff and witness his commitment to public service and our shared American values. Of course, Jeff's faith in Christ was evident and I hope this brings comfort to us all, most especially the Storie family, as we confront his unexpected passing.

My heart and my prayers go out to your family at this time of sorrow. Professor Storie was my Intellectual Property professor at Texas Wesleyan School of Law, and he was a favorite of mine. He brought humor, insight, understanding, kindness, and so much more to the classroom, along with his ability to understand our need for individual attention in the masses. He inspired us to learn by personalizing the information and unraveling the complexities of the material--a real "teacher" with a passion for living and learning and sharing. I discovered that a number of his friends and co-workers were also my friends and acquaintances through our many years of working in the legal field in Tarrant County. He sometimes spoke of his family in the classroom, and it was evident that they were such an integral part of everything he did, and his kind Christian nature shone through his personality and his work. I am grateful to have known him and benefited from him. My heart goes out in greatest sympathy to his family and I pray that you will know God's peace and comfort in this time of pain.
