When I was living in Dallas several years ago, the cornball humor was the best ever. The characters of Sam from Sales was so funny because I've worked radio also. The talent was better than any I've heard on radio. My favorite is "giving directions to the guy whose pickup turn-off the road & sells gloves "whut have 6 fingers..." Today I still laugh....all the characters are great. I'm now in a central Texas resort and miss everything about living in Dallas. Thank you for the fun and laughs...I might be back someday....

I temper as a kid in Waco Texas waking up at 430 in the morning listening to Bill Macks midnight tricking show. Then Hal Jay and Dick Segelcame on air just after 5 am. His traffic reports by far one of the greatest AM radio shows there ever was. I knowt the cows in the milk barn enjoyed because that is all that was played in the dairy barn that morning until we went to school

Dick Siegel was one of the first people I met when I moved to Dallas in the late 70's. What a character he was! He had a radio show on wknds on KLIF at the time, and I found we shared a love of music. Me and my brother were both lucky enough to fly with him when he did his morning traffic reports, and he was so funny it's definitely something I'll never forget. My prayers go out to his wife and family, for I'm sure there's a huge presence in their lives they're missing. Much love to you Dick.

But on of my fondess merories is the road trip you, David Cooksey and I took when David lost his youngest son. You knew that David needed to get away and I thing you just used the excuse that you wante to go to Montano to see your home place. We had a great time but never got past Colorado. Thanks to you I saw most of Colorado. I also cherish the time I flew with you in Jetcopter 820.Dick you were the greatest and we will truly miss you! God Bless you and your family.

Dick Siegel was as real as life can get. You never knew what to expect listening to Hal and Dick except that what ever happened was going to be funny.
Siegel's tremendous level of energy and constant thought made me wonder how he could do all of that and fly a helicopter. It was more than obvious that he had great humor. Sitting at stop lights you could look over at the car nest to you and see the occupants laughing as hard and you did.
Thanks Dick and fly faster through the heavens.

Dick and I were friends for almost 40 years. When my traffic plane was down, I flew with Dick and we had a great time. My years at KBOX paralleled his years at WBAP. Dick's "retirement" to Eldorado gave listeners there a sense of the joy Dick found in country music and entertaining so many listeners. I have lost lots of radio friends through the years... Ron Rice, Joe Long, Dick Moore, Russ Knight, Ken Knox, and others. The list of radio greats, including Dick Siegel, that I have known and worked with and respected, is long. I feel very fortunate to have known Dick and all of them.

It's mind-boggling to even think about the number of people Dick Siegel touched with his jokes, traffic reports and kindness. It's more amazing to consider that he flew his helicopter, provided traffic reports and told jokes -- all without assistance.

I always started my day with the Hal And Dick show. It made the day brighter. The one thing that sticks out in my memory is how during the floods of the late 1980's how Dick risked his own life to rescue people ( I believe it was a mother and child ) from a car that was being washed away in fast moving waters. You will be missed very much.

Dear Siegel Family, Just want to thank you for all the laughter and joy this man brought to me and family. I'm 64 years of age and have been listening to WBAP since a kid in 1955, Hal & Dick were the Golden Years of WBAP, pre Political Correctness. Dick helped lower my blood pressure on many occasions when stuck in traffic in DFW area with his humor. What a blessing Dick was to all. God Bless. Dwane Simmons.

Sieg, you're one of the true plank owners of WBAP. You helped get it to it's legendary status of "We Bring A Program" as stated once by a former President. You, Hal, Steve, Sam From Sales were a favorite among many. Sieg, we love you and you'll be missed! I pray that God will comfort and ease their hearts in this time of sorrow. May you stay alive flying in our hearts and joyous memories we all have.

Thursday, Jeanne and the entire WBAP crew lost a true hero and legend from 1981-2003. Hal Jay and Dick Siegel was part of the morning 6-9AM and 3-6PM drive playing country music before it went to total news/talk format. Dick Siegel died of a heart attack. Dick was voted pilot of the year for rescuing a stranded family and a farmer from rising flood water. He was a loving husband, a super down to earth funny as all get out great friend, and a real aviator in sense of being at one with the JetRanger. He could fly so low the rotor blades could make for great tree trimming. I ask all of my fb friends keep Jeanne and the entire WBAP family in your thoughts and prayers. "Sieg" was truly one of a kind. Rest in eternal peace my friend. When we hear helicopter rotors making a "whomp, whomp, whomp" type sound we know it's your way of reminding us that you are alive and flying in our hearts and memories. My sincerest and utmost condolences on your loss Jeanne and I pray that our Heavenly Father above will bring you warming comfort and healing during this time of mourning. Know that we all are mourning with you as you're not alone and he will never be forgotten. God bless you! Ps. "Sieg, you'll be missed"

As Sheriff of Schleicher County, I had the great privilege of meeting Dick as soon as he hired on with KLDE 104.9 in Eldorado. I quickly learned you could not get through a live interview without busting out laughing on air. Dick was a former Deputy Sheriff so there was an automatic camaraderie. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Siegel Family during the loss of this legend. Sheriff David & Lenette Doran.

Daddy you have always been my hero. Growing up in the flying in the air with you, late nights at the KLIF station when I would run and grab your 8 tracks for you to play. The time you built my Barbie Dream house to have full lights And street lamps. You kept it hidden in your closet for at least two months while you were working on it every night when you would get home from the Station, not knowing that the daytime I would sneak in there and look at it in awe, it was all little girls dream. You have always been a amazing father and words cannot express how much I am missing you! It is comforting reading about how many others admire you as much, and I would like to thank everyone for taking the time for your words. We greatly appreciate them. Sincerely, Kristin Dawn Siegel

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES--- On June 30, 2008 West Texas and Eldorado would never be the same. Not only had we got our first radio station KLDE earlier, we got our first live DJ. Little did we know that day how you would steal our hearts and transform our lives forever. Having the privilege of being on the air with you reporting the community news are memories I will cherish. You taught me so much about live radio and certainly kept me on my toes-- never knew what you were going to say next!! Every time we hear an Elvis song or watch an old DALLAS rerun we will think of you. I am so happy to have shared our travels with "Mustangs Across America" -finally found something that you hadn't done! We will always remember the parade and you riding in my T-bucket. We miss you forever, my friend!!! Cathy K. and Rennond, Eldorado, Texas

While working as an EMT in Fort Worth, my days always started with a laugh, they ended laughing too as you got me home in the evening. Here's the way I see heaven today; hell is burning, Mason is putting the fire out, Yawes is directing traffic around the fire, and Seig is flying over giving us a blow by blow description of the whole mess.
