Roy, I didn't come to your funeral. Childhood cancer really changed me life and many times I would think "At least Roy is having a great life". Thought that many times. Really shook me when you died. Those days in school went so fast. Anyway, thinking about you, old friend.

I am at a loss for words my friend. I will always cherish our friendship from Pre-K to running our bikes down our County Road to graduation. One of the craziest memories I have, is knocking you out while playing Tag at recess. You have touched so many in your life, and we all know that you are smiling down on us. You will truly be missed. What great times we had together as kids growing up at Norwood and on through high school! I'm very fortunate to have known Roy and to have met his beautiful son. Roy was one of my very best friends in college. I had the fortunate opportunity to be able to create wonderful, amazing memories with Roy on and off the field. I grew up with Roy from Elementary to High school- It was 10 or more years after graduation before we ran into each other and it was the same loving guy I knew from the football field and the classroom. What a great guy- and I feel blessed knowing the Hampton

My heart goes out to The Hampton Family. What a tragic loss. I knew John more than Roy but knowing one you knew them all. Especially at the bus stop in the early early mornings on our way to school. Although my memories of Roy are from afar he was everything that is good in this world. I'm so saddened for your families loss. I was and still am very shocked and saddened to hear about Roy. I went to school with him and he was an amazing person. He was someone you couldn't help but love. I remember my brother played baseball with him for years. I will keep the entire Hampton family, especially the sweet little boy he left behind in my prayers. Hamptons, I cannot express in words how saddened I am about the passing of Roy. Roy had a knack for living to the fullest in everything he was involved in. I remember when he was an assistant in the counseling center, many years ago, how full of life he was, how smart, how funny, how handsome! He wanted to get ahead and was constantly talking about colleges and scholarships, and careers. When he left a room, the air needed to settle back down ...he was a bundle of energy!
May God give you the strength to get through this tragedy. May he help you to heal your broken hearts and be able to get your lives back on track. Your other sons and grandkids are each hurting in their own way, and they need you to be there for them..
