I will never forget Leah and think of her sometimes because on our first day of Kindergarten, I was so scared. I didn't want my mom to leave me. Leah was dribbling a basketball and came over to me so confidently and told me that I didn't need to be scared because she would be my friend. She's like let's just play and you'll be fine. She was a good friend. I moved after 3rd grade and we didn't stay in touch, but she still left a meaningful impact on my life and others. My daughter is starting 4th grade this year, but when she was in Kindergarten, there was a girl at meet the teacher who was crying and terrified. I told my daughter what Leah did for me in Kindergarten when I was scared and she went up to that little girl and said something similar to what Leah told me. They are still friends and both of them have grown so much more confident over the years. It amazed me at the time and over time how confident and thoughtful Leah was as a child and human. Thank you for your kindness and love, Leah Lombard. It is being passed on and will never be forgotten.

I didn't know Leah but I wanted to let you know that you've been in my thoughts and prayers since you lost your loved one in that terrible car accident.

It sounded like she had everything going for her and we can be comforted in that. She was a beautiful girl and I know she is now your guardian angel in heaven.

May God continue to comfort all of you and help you remember Leah through your special memories. I have two nieces, Emily Runnels Young (Class of 2003) and Jaclyn Lewis Williams (Class of 2004 and a cheerleader both JV and Varsity) that may have known her through Richland High School.

Hello, my name is Debra

I did not know your daughter. However I live in the area and every time I pass the marker on 820 I think of the family that was left behind. I too have lost family members & dear friends to death. I know how tragic this time can be for your family.

Well meaning people say that God needed another flower in heaven or it was just
meant to be! Yet this didn’t help me feel any better.

I found the answers in the Bible to be my true source of encouragement.

My best friend knew her well and speaks very highly of her...I can tell by the way that she touched him that she was a very good person and I am so sorry that I did not get the chance to meet and know her! I am so sorry for your loss and I pray that god mends your hearts to the best of his ability!
May god be with you!

I met Leah the middle of my freshman year at RHS. We didn't get much of a chance to talk or get to know each other, but I do remember her being such a wonderful person. She always had a smile on her face, and was always so kind to everyone. I remember her walking into a room and the room just lighting up with her presence. She was such a great friend, and was always trying to make everyone smile. I deeply regret not being able to get to know her.

My prayers are with the Lombard family at this time. It is hard to loose a loved one, especially one as amazing as Leah. May you all find strength within each other during this difficult time.

I am tremendously sorry for your loss.

Tom and Paula,
My husband and I are so sorry for your loss. I am Jimmy Enos' mom, Christi, and we both just loved her. She had come with Jimmy, to several of our family functions, and get-togethers, and became part of the family to us. She and Jimmy had also attended church,on several occasions, with my husband, Tony, and I, in Arlington. She use to send me text messages frequently, and had come to my place of employment, and filled out an application. We all just loved her. You two did such a great job raising her. She was such a sweetheart. She is in a better place, and is probably smiling down on all of us,right now, from heaven, Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Lombard Family,

I met Leah in the fourth grade, I was new to the school and she was one of few who befriended me. I moved away after only two years and unfortunately we lost touch. It was only recently that I got back in touch with her, only to have this tragic event take place. Words can't begin to erase the pain you all must be feeling. Although we weren't close , I can tell by the outpouring of kind words what a truly amazing person she was. I am and always will be so blessed to have known someone as kind and beautiful as Leah. I wish words could heal, as time seems to pass so slowly in times like these. My deepest apologies to Leah's friends and family, although cut short we were all blessed to have known and loved someone as special as Leah. There will never be another who smiled as bright as she. She will forever remain in my heart.

April 2, 2009

I did not know Leah nor anyone from the Lombard family. I simply saw the headline in last week's paper about the accident while waiting for a table at a restaurant. When I returned to the office I googled her name and was overwhelmed by the beautiful power of the love so many had for Leah and for the enormous impact she made in her too short life, an impact many who live four times as long never make. It reminds us that the length of our lives is irrelevant to the intensity of our lives and by that measure Leah lived a fuller life than most. I am heartbroken at the pain that so many who knew and loved Leah are feeling and I pray that God heals your hearts and blesses you with His grace.

Nothing I can say will help. I won't try and make you feel better. We all LOVED Kentucky, (my nickname for Leah). Now she prays for and watches over us. The way she could light up a room was amazing, and I was fortunate enough to experience it many times. She had become Victoria's best friend, and might as well have been family to us....so much more to be said and yet there aren't words. Just know that y'all will remain in our prayers as she will forever remain in our hearts.

I only wish that we had the words to help ease your sorrow and pain. We will miss Leah greatly. I know she is up in heaven looking down on all of hurting with that great grin, smile and infectious attitude. I know everybody that knew her will really miss her. I remember the great times we shared with her camping, sleepovers, birthdays and cheer leading. I am sure going to miss being the "Tickle Monster" and chasing her and RaQuelle and hearing them squeal and laugh. I especially remember the sleepover at our house and all the pranks the girls played. I can honestly say that Leah lived her life the way it was meant to be, with warmth, friendship and her caring ways. We will truly miss you

To the Lombard family, I don't know you but I know you lost an angel and wanted to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I was on my way home from work when I saw the accident. I cried and instantly started to pray asking God to send his angels because I knew who ever was in the car was now in Heaven. May the Comforter come to your family and friends and may he comfort your hearts. I pray Leah's precious memories will see you through and thank God for all her years with your family. I was so touched by what I witnessed - I felt such sadness and also prayed that there were no babies in the car. The next day I learned it was your Leah - I cried again - it was your baby and I hurt because my children are 26, 23 and 19. It could have been mine and I don't know how I would handle the pain. I do know I will put all my trust in God and I know that only He could see me through. I pray for peace and understanding for you all - In Jesus precious name - Amen.

I'm so sadden at the thought that she is no longer with us. I didn't know her personally, but I went to high school with her. Her beautiful face and smile was so infectious to everyone. You could tell she had a beautiful heart. She will be deeply missed.

Tom, Paula, Katie, and Kelley,
I have been praying for your family ever since the second I heard that Leah was gone. She was such an amazing woman and I am extremely proud to be able to call myself her friend. She was the closest thing that I have ever had to a little sister and I loved her with all my heart. I am still thinking and praying for the four of you and your family and hope that you can find peace during this awfully tragic time. I love you all very much.

God Bless,

To Tom, Paula and family,
James and I are so sorry to hear of your tragic loss. The girls were so young when you left Louisville, but I remember enjoying Tom's 'proud father' stories. Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers; may God give you strength and comfort now and in the days ahead.
