Andrew Hamby Obituary

Andrew Willie Hamby, 89 years old, departed for his heavenly home on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, from a local nursing home. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel, 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Open visitation: from 1 p.m. Friday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Megargel to Taylor and Mabel Hamby. Andrew served in the Army for three years during World War II. He retired from Safeway in 1986 after serving 24 years. Survivors: His wife of 63 years, Emily; daughters, Linda Schafer and husband, Ray, of Arizona and Faye Beavers and husband, Robert, of North Richland Hills; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters.

Mr. Hamby was as kind and gentle a spirit as anyone could ever know. He was a devoted family man and someone we should all aspire to be. My condolences go out to his wife, daughters and extended family.
