Dorothy Goss Obituary

Dorothy Lucille Goss died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, in Bedford. Dorothy was born Dec. 30, 1925, in Oregon, Mo. Her first 12 years were spent in Denver, Colo. She graduated from Fortescue, Mo., high school in 1943. She married Roy L. Jennings on Dec. 23, 1945, in Troy, Kan. Roy was a staff sergeant in the Air Force. He died July 10, 1953, in Norway from an airplane crash. In 1955, Dorothy married Ona LaVerne Goss. This marriage was dissolved in November 1968. She was a sewing instructor for Singer Sewing Machine Company and a home interior decorator for Montgomery Ward. She owned and operated an upholstery shop in Savannah, Mo., for 30 years. After retirement, Dorothy enjoyed volunteering at the senior center in Savannah, Mo. She resided at Evergreen in Keller for almost three years. There, she enjoyed making crib quilts for children of unwed mothers, and loved bingo and special events regularly. In May, she took up residence in Bedford with her son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Janice Jennings. Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Hinkle Jr.; her parents, Agnes A. and James E. Hinkle Sr.; and one grandchild. Survivors: Children, Roy L. Jennings Jr. and wife, Janice, of Bedford, Kaylene L. McCrerey and husband, Steve, of Hiawatha, Kan., Gary L. Jennings and wife, Joy, of Olathe, Kan., Dennis J. Goss and wife, Jackie, of Olathe, Kan., and Randy D. Goss and wife, Missie, of Blue Springs, Mo.; sister, Barbara Davis of Port Orange, Fla.; stepdaughters, Diana Saunders and husband, Clarence, of Rea, Mo., and Deborah Ditch and husband, Steve, of St. Louis, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
