Mary Rudd Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Clark Rudd, 84, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, following complications from dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Service: 2 p.m. Monday at Western Hills United Methodist Church. Visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Mary will lie in state from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Thompson's Harveson and Cole Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to Western Hills United Methodist Church, 2820 Laredo Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76116. Mary was born May 27, 1929, in Wichita Falls, where she developed a talent for music, learning to play the piano and later the organ. She was the center of many family music gatherings. Mary married Marvin Perry Rudd on Sept. 6, 1946, and began her early working career with the Model Laundry doing bookkeeping and front desk work. She retired from that work following the birth of her son, Marvin II, on Oct. 5, 1947, at which time she became a domestic engineer, managing the homestead and her new family. Her daughter, Katherine Camille, was born Oct. 14, 1952, completing her family with Marvin. Mary continued her homemaking until her passing. She, Marvin, Marvin II and Katherine moved to Fort Worth in November 1956, when Marvin began work at Convair Aircraft in the material purchasing department. The family became members of Western Hills United Church and maintain their membership there to the present day. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, David and Bertie Clark. Survivors: Her husband of 68 years, Marvin; son, Marvin II; daughter, Katherine Clemens and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Skyler Corry Rudd and wife, Elizabeth, David Bryan Clemens and wife, Joni, Christopher Neal Clemens and wife, Christie; and great-grandchildren, Payton Clemens, Cacie Clemens and Cody Clemens.
