I continue to pay it forward in your name and honor ... looked this obituary up earlier today, when I was telling some young ladies about how I am where I am because of you. Your unwavering commitment to youth was never forgotten, even almost ten years after your passing.
I was telling the ladies that you had been gone for 5 or 6 years, then I opened your obit up and there it said 9.5 years!!! Time flies and so do the changes in teenagers. But the lessons that you taught me, still stand strong today as I pass them on to this next generation. I have heard more this year than ever before, of obstacles that our youth are working towards overcoming. And the lack of guidance that they have in today's world is insurmountable and I wonder how they will pull everything together and fight their way out. They have no choice. And our dedication to passing your legacy is vital, now more than ever.
My hour long one way commute to school every day is worth the sacrifice, because I am doing what you did for me and so many others; and I am doing it for the very same forgotten kids just like myself, that are full of spirit, pride, experience, intelligence and so much more. They are our future and they have to see their power! They are our new warriors in the good fight for a better tomorrow.
As you look down from the clouds, I know that you know that you have never been forgotten and that so many kids know you today; even if it is just by a picture and the memories, they still know you and your strength and how much it has lasted over the decades.
Nothing but love to the man who didn't have to.

I came to R.L. PASCHAL today to see my daughter perform for color gaurd. I was remembering all the good times and how i was very grateful to have attended such a good school and have great role models...and people to keep me on the right path! That was you mr.player!!! So sorry i never had the opportunity to tell you in person. I laugh when i think about how you made the boys wear a rope for a belt when they sagged their pants. And thanks for giving me detetention and had me clean the lunch tables. Was mad back then but the moment i became a mother i understood! Thank you for being a blessing in my life. Your memory will live on threw my kids! Love to your family

None knew each other better than you and I, as we were born a year apart. Some may have even thought us twins. I think of you often and find it difficult to imagine this physical life without your presence. I have lost a piece of me that cannot be replaced. Peace

I sit here and cry in from of my kids (students many will call them), all because I just found out that my mentor is gone. He knew I thought the world of him, because of him I am a proud high school and college grad...I am currently paying it forward because of what he did for me in high school. He was united by Mr. Torres and Mr. Barnes who always had us kids at heart...thank you for what all you taught me at such an early age. I am forever in gratitude for what you did...saving me in more ways than one.

Mr. Player and I worked together at both O.D. Wyatt and Paschal HIgh Schools. He was always extremely helpful when I had problems with uncooperative students. He was always caring and sympathetic and fun, but he could make stern decisions when they were called for. His passing is a loss to the education system and a blessing to Heaven. I send my sincerest condolences to your family and remember you in my prayers. Glenn Player was "one of a special kind!"

Would love to hear from former students. (1203 Cliff Swallow Ct.)
