I did not know Steve. I came across this obituary today while searching for an article I wrote as a Washington Post reporter in 1994 about a plane crash near Pittsburgh. My father's name was Charles Fehr. I am Stephen Charles Fehr. My son is Matthew Stephen Fehr. I am an Eagle Scout. I could not help but notice the coincidence and offer my sincere condolences.

Vicky ,
I had so much respect for Steve this all just makes me so sad. I just think so much about you and hope you feel better soon due to your own injuries.

I only knew Steve for a short time. Our office is in the same building down the hall. He was a very nice fellow and always spoke to me. Wish I could have known him better. I pray for the family during this time of loss. May God Bless!

Steve was my boss. I'm a geologist and worked with Steve to find "the big one" we all know is underlying the beautiful mountains and canyons comprising the mineral property Steve's father assembled and left to Steve to shepherd into something fruitful and productive.
I knew Steve as a relatively quiet and reserved man, the consummate businessman and professional. However, when he would visit his mining property here in southern Utah and we would tour the ground so I could detail and explain to him my latest thoughts and findings, he would open up and let the barriers down a bit. He would tell stories about his travels here as a young boy, and his adventures on the mining claims with siblings and local friends.
It pleased him greatly to recall and relive those events. I learned a lot from him. I will miss him. The world lost a good, solid, wise man too soon.

I am so so sorry for the loss of Steve and Vicki. My thoughts have been with you and my heart aching during this whole terrible week. London and Vail will miss Grandad Steve and Nana Vivi very much, and miss out on growing up with the loving influence of two wonderful people.
