Shannon Midkiff Obituary

Shannon Anderson Midkiff, 44, a loving daughter, wife, mother and friend, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, March 17, 2016. Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church Fort Worth with Pastor Karl Travis officiating. Graveside: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Atlanta, Texas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Shannon's memory to the Gladney Center for Adoption, 6300 John Ryan Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76132. Shannon was born on Oct. 6, 1971, in Shreveport, La., to Ken and Mary Ann Anderson. She graduated from Atlanta High School in Atlanta in 1990 and received her bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University in 1994 where she was an active member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Shannon was introduced to the love of her life, Herd Midkiff, originally from Midland, by mutual friends. They married on April 8, 2000, and welcomed their daughter, Caroline, into the family in 2010. They moved to Fort Worth in 2011. Shannon was beautiful on the inside and outside, making friends with everyone she met. Her smile and laugh were infectious and unforgettable. Shannon was a dedicated and true friend. She was a loving and supportive wife to Herd, and her love for Caroline was evident in everything she did. Shannon was the daughter all parents pray for and the sister who made her brother proud. Shannon made the world a better, more hospitable place; she was a gracious hostess and will be missed by many, including her close friends, Becky Verschoyle Armstrong and Mallory Browning O'Conner, both of Dallas, Ginger Read Bryant of Huntsville, Ala., and other friends too numerous to list. Shannon was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Dallas and an active member at First Presbyterian Church Fort Worth. Survivors: Husband, Herd Midkiff; daughter, Caroline Midkiff of Fort Worth; parents, Ken and Mary Ann Anderson of Atlanta; brother and sister-in-law, Turner and Carly Anderson of Texarkana, Texas, and their children, Nealy Kate and Will. Shannon was the daughter-in-law of Bob and Toni Midkiff, of Midland, sister-in-law to Kris and Randy Stephens, and aunt to Robert Stephens of Comanche.
