CALVERT James Staton Calvert, 78, and Jean Calvert, 75, passed away at their Worthington, Ohio home on March 31, 2010. James Staton Calvert was born February 14, 1932, in Princeton, West Virginia, to James William Staton Calvert and Thelma Boone Calvert. He graduated from East Rockaway High School in New York in 1950, earned his airline service mechanic credentials in 1952, married Jean Calvert in December 1953, and served in the United States Army, Second Armed Division, Bad Kreuznach, Germany, in 1954. He received a Good Conduct Medal, an Army Occupation Medal, and a National Defense Service Medal along with an achievement award for overseas service. He received an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1952 and the Army in 1960. Shortly after his return from Germany, he and wife Jean moved with their twin daughters to Ohio. James began his career as a computer programmer/engineer at North American Rockwell in Columbus, Ohio, and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in the College of Arts and Science in 1970 from The Ohio State University. In 1980 he earned his pilot's license from the Columbus Chapter Rockwell Flying Club. He retired from North American Rockwell with much recognition from projects he designed, and successfully concluded his career with General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas. He earned a good government leader award from General Dynamics. He received recognition in 1990 for his research and development in aircraft vulnerability from both North American Rockwell and General Dynamics. He enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader and was passionate about computers, cars, bicycling, house projects, his community, and family. His family wrote: James was a loving father to twin girls and a caring husband. He was a role model to his family, his coworkers, and everyone who knew him. He was known for his intellect, humor, and kind-hearted nature. He will be missed greatly by his children, son-in-law, grandchildren, brother, sisters, their families, and neighbors. Jean Calvert was born December 15, 1934, in Matoaka, West Virginia, to William and Lala Bailey Akers. Jean graduated from Matoaka High School and attended College in West Virginia. She married James, became the mother of twin girls, and began her career as a dental assistant in Columbus, Ohio. She became the Century 21 top associate in 1981 and 1983, and received two Hall of Fame awards in 1984 and 1985. She also received two All American Realtor awards. She was passionate about preparing home cooked meals, home decorating, and sharing her many talents with family and those she loved. She was the glue and rock of the family. Her family wrote: Jean was a loving mother and wife. She gave her heart to all who knew her. She played an integral role in keeping generations together happily and lovingly. Dear Debbie & Kim - I have always thought of your parents as family. Their house was always one of the first places I went to visit when home. They will be remembered by us each and every day.

I am Jean's brother and we are the youngest members of our family. My heart is just broken. I am so upset that I am just numb. God only knows how much I will miss her.
During some of Jim's schooling, we were a close group of small town friends. As boy scouts we went camping, swimming, hiking, and cycling many times. Jim had a way of creating laughter under many unusual situations. I lost a good friend. David L. Akers

Dear Debbie and Kim;
I will always remember your parents as the kind, thoughtful neighbors they were for 45plus years. I remember your Mom picking up Nancy, Nanette, and I every morning, running late, for high school;and your Dad with the soft southern and pleasant greetings. My heart and prayers are with you and your families.
