I just became aware of Tom“s passing. I met Tom because of our common interest in antique cars. We both built vehicles with Marmon V-16 engines. I really enjoyed our friendship.

You have my sincere sympathy in the loss of your father. What a man, irreplaceable. And the grand legacy he leaves behind to carry on his work and the love he had for his family and friends. To the family of Mr. Sutphen, although I only knew Mr. Sutphen less than a year, he was an amazing man, he was such a genuine, kind, considerate, honest and caring gentleman. To me, it was abundantly clear why he was such a respected man. God bless Mr. Sutphen.

Julie and the Sutphen family. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. You and your family have my deepest condolences and sympathy. I will always treasure the day I had lunch with your dad when the two of you visited the East plant to meet about our vehicle. Your father and I talked about antique autos and fire apparatus during lunch to our mutual enjoyment. He was truly an exceptional engineer and innovator in the fire apparatus world that will be missed by everyone.
Every time I see a Sutphen tower I will think about the genius engineer behind that design that started a trend in the modern world fire service, what a tribute and legacy to leave behind. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Central Bridge Fire District
