George Clyde Obituary

CLYDE George Clyde, age 82, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in New York City on July 1, 1928, to the late George and Mabel Clyde. George graduated in 1946 from South High School in Columbus and went on to graduate from The Ohio State University in 1950 and was a longtime OSU alumnus. After graduating from college George proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, 4th Infantry Division, in the European Theater. After serving in the military, George went to work with his father at Clydesdale Aircraft Corporation, later assuming ownership of the company. After a successful 38 year career, he retired in 1990. George had a unique ability to always look for the best in people. He had many interests in life including, gardening, fishing and tinkering with cars. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and OSU Buckeye fan. Although he enjoyed many things in life, he found true pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren. His family will forever cherish and miss his quiet strength, love and advice. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Beverly; children, James Clyde, Georgia Clyde and Nancy (Bryan) Graupmann; grandchildren, Andrew and Kelsey Graupmann and Corey and Erin Stevens. A celebration of George's life will be held from 3:30-6 p.m., Monday, April 25, 2011 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at Beecher RD.) Gahanna, where friends are invited to share their special memories. I am sorry to hear about George's passing. My dad, Stan Harris (who passed away in 1995), always spoke highly of George and, I believe, considered George to be his best friend.

We were so sorry to hear about George's passing. I think "quiet strength" is a good description of him. He and the entire Clyde family were an important part of my childhood, and I'll always have fond memories of him. Maria Vitale Gallagher
