Hortense Doris Easter

EASTER Hortense Doris Easter, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. She was born on June 18, 1926 in Canton, Ohio to the late Rev. Frederick and Mary Barnes. Hortense was a proud and yet modest woman who loved and valued her family. She loved classical music, the opera and was an artist as well as an avid reader. She attended Wilberforce University, worked at American Standard and taught at St. Joseph's in Lorain, Ohio. Her family will miss her example; she helped to ensure that all eight of her children graduated from college and went on to be very successful in their chosen professions. They will also cherish her warm sense of humor, her laugh and the advice she freely gave. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, William Easter, Sr., and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, William, Anthony (Terri), Leonard (Nina), Julian (Dawn), Adrian (Gretchen), Myra (Michael) Iliano, Monica Easter and Noreen Toles; sisters, Faith Beard, Lois Toles, and Milicent Eason; brother, Marshall (Elizabeth) Barnes; 18 grand-children; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd.
