Chris was my wrestling coach at Huron High School, and he has always stood in my mind as the standard of what fine coaching should be. His influence on me was far greater than he ever knew. I was saddened to learn this week of his passing, months ago, and I can only offer my sympathies and gratitude to his family.

To the Ford Family; Heartfelt Sympathy to all of the Fords and Drumm's during this difficult time. I am the grand daugher of Frank C Drumm, who is the brother of Ann,Earl,Grace,Betty,Pat,George..my Grandpa was known as "Stormy" and he moved to Illinois and had one son my father Donald Carlton Drumm, my siblings are Donna,Darlene and Donald. My father Don would talk often about Chris Ford- telling us what a good athlete , and wonderful person he was. My Dad also played high school football basketball and ran track he coached those sports in the Marines and it will played them Illinois Wesleyan and he coached and taught high school sports- very much like Chris did. The one reunion we attended my Dad spent a lot of time talking with Chris Ford. I believe Chris was the like the brother myDad never had. I am Darlene, age 62, and I too was a PE Teacher and high school/ college athlete. We didn't know our Ohio Drumm relatives very well but always heard the story of the 13 Drumm siblings, who grew up on the farm in Licking County Valley.
I am and always have been very proud of my DRUMM Heritage.

The Drumm family will miss this proud pillar of our family. This big, strong guy with a big heart. My legendary cousin and renaissance man was a role model for how to treat others, care for one's family and accomplish great things in life. He coached football and wrestling and had OSU's first national champion wrestler during his time there. Chris is in the Ohio Wrestling Hall of Fame, and rubbed shoulders with Lee Tressel and Earle Bruce in the football side of his career.

He recalled a young guy named Jimmy Tressel who gave rides to the coaches' wives for his dad -- while playing a thread-bare Beach Boys cassette tape nonstop.

Rest in peace, Chris -- I bet you and mom are sharing a joke and giggling right now. Long may your spirit live.

Chris was a special man who lived an extraordinary life and who elevated those who knew him far beyond where they thought they could ever go or acheive. He was blessed with a life full of love, family, friends, adventures, passion for life, joy, accomplishments and most of all respect and appreciation for others. We can only hope and aspire to be the wonderful human being that he lived out, every day of his life.
