God love Kate for all of her civil rights and advocacy work. I worked with the Columbus Tenants Union too. May she Rest In Peace and May her survivors always be comforted.

I was a law clerk for Kate in the early 90s. She was a wonderful person and a tremendously talented lawyer. She had a very rare combination of unrelenting passion for justice and the practical skills to achieve results. She will continue to be an inspiration to me and others who try to follow in her footsteps.

I knew Kate not all that much, but knew that she was warm and kind. Her work as an attorney is what I remember most of Kate. She will be missed by many people, especially those who knew and loved her most. Can't make it to the memorial, can't deal with traffic in that area; others: have a warm and serene evening thinking of Kate.

I'm driving to Kansas next week and will have special thoughts of Kate as I see the plains come into view. I know you will be surrounded with love this weekend as you celebrate her wonderful life.

Kate was very kind to me, and was a sensitive and compassionate mentor to me as I began private practice. She did not seem to have a mean bone in her body, but clearly expressed indignation in the face of injustice. I will miss her.

Kate was a hero - an essential part of the core of progressive Columbus lawyers and activists woking and fighting for justice year after year. She will live on in the good she did and the change she made. Kate was an inspiration to two grateful generations who will never forget her.

Kate,
You, with the kind heart, the keen -- often blunt -- mind, the drive for justice and what is good in the world... and a sense of humor that, well, was a lot of fun. Do well where you are now, and keep on growing. Maybe we will all see each other again someday.

When I knew Kate, when we were both very young, her dream was to become a profound force for good in the world. Today, I find myself asking: "How often is it that anyone of any class or gender is able to realize the dreams of their youth as fully as Kate Schulte did?"

To Kate's family, I am so very sorry for your tremendous loss. I worked with Kate many years ago, but her greatest gift to me was an obsession for gardening. She invited me to her home and generously gave me many plants. I think of her every time I dig in the dirt.

I miss my awesome Aunt Kate, & even though we rarely got to see each other, we managed to really connect on Facebook, & I will be forever grateful for her words of encouragement & support. Her passion for fighting injustice is an inspiration, & she taught me what it means to be a feminist. I love you.
