Leona Babka Obituary

Babka Leona S. Babka, age 96, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 under the loving care of the Laurels of Norworth. She was born June 8, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Frank and Wanda Mitrenga. Leona joins her husband Andrew R. Babka, whom she met in 1942. They married while Andrew was on Furlough in 1946. Leona worked as a Telephone Operator at Bell Telephone and as an Electrical Components Assembler with Zenith. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards with friends. Leona was a friend to all. She is survived by her children, Arlene (Michael) Cooney, Glenn (Judy) Babka and Ronald (Sarah) Babka; many grandchildren and their families; along with many other family members. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6899 Smokey Row Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235. Father Nicola Ventura, Celebrant. Interment to follow at Kingwood Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Laurels of Norworth and Ohio Health Hospice for their loving care and support.
