Carl Hennon Obituary

HENNON Carl E. Hennon Jr., passed away August 22, 2011. He was the son of Carl E. Hennon and Julia Ann Baltrus. He was born January 8, 1937 in Akron, Ohio, and attended Coventry High School until joining the Marine Corps. Upon his return to civilian life, he married Beverly Gearhart and had two children, Danatta Lee Ann Litt, and Carl III. Graduated from Akron University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree which enabled him to teach English and History at local high schools in Akron. Eventually, he found work with the Ohio Department of Mental Health. During his time there he was a teacher at Sagamore Hills, was the personnel officer at Fairhill Mental Health Center in Cleveland, and became a labor relations specialist, and finally a manager of institutional training for the Central Office in Columbus, Ohio. He ended his career as a training officer for the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services. He was a member of, Dublin Senior Citizens and Senior Golf Group, American Legion, and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Preceded in death by grandson Carl IV, sister Carol Brusko, son-in-law David Litt. Survived by loving wife, Margherita Dallas; son, Carl III (Melissa); daughter, Danatta Litt; step-daughters, Michelle Porter, Jennifer (Michael) Ratliff; grandchildren, Max and Emma Hennon, Natalie Annie and Sammy Ratliff; brothers and sister, Jim (Mary) Rich, Eleanor Hennon, Tilley Young, Sandy (Bob) Zvanesky, Larry (Mary) Hennon, Kathy (Dave) Maxwell; aunt, Eleanor Henry; brother-in-law, Joseph (Kerma) Dallas' many nieces, nephews, friends and friend of Bill W. Among those who knew of him are dozens of relatives whom he contacted over the years while conducting genealogy research projects, and not to mention those in whom he shared his love of golf and stories about the imperfections we all suffer from time to time. If he had one or maybe two wishes during his lifetime, it would be to have seen the Browns and Indians win Championships as they did when he was a boy and to have his poetry and writings read and appreciated. papa carl will be greatly missed by natalie, annie & sammy. he was a papa who was very special to them. he taught them to love art, drawing, music & movies. he loved to plan their special outings & overnights. he took them to the pet shop & half price books often. he always bought them each a book but thankfully didn't buy them new pets! they loved watching movies with him. sammy always sat in his lap for the entire movie. he took them to the golf driving range or safari golf course. he took sammy there more than the girls. he even took the kids on visits to the fire station down the street and then to the park . he was very much loved by natalie, annie & sammy. He was a wonderful papa to our children. He will be so missed.
