Marilyn Napoletan Obituary

NAPOLETAN Marilyn J. Napoletan, 76, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on December 15, 2012, at Kobacker House in Columbus, OH following a long, harsh battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Butler, PA, on October 12, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Mong) McCormick. She is survived by her loving daughter, Ann Napoletan; and granddaughter, Jessica Napoletan; her wonderful family of caregivers at Eason House, a myriad of dear friends; brothers, Richard (Toni) McCormick and Robert (Lita) McCormick; sister, Barbara (James) Isovitsch, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Shirley (Aime) Baptiste. Marilyn retired from Nationwide Insurance in 1998 following a 30-year career that began in the Butler, PA, regional office. Over the course of her career, she touched the lives of countless Nationwiders, building lifelong friendships along the way. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed cooking and baking, traveling, gardening, spending time with friends, and being her granddaughter's greatest fan. A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers devotee, she was never without her Terrible Towel on Sunday afternoons during football season. A Celebration of Life, followed by a luncheon, will be held at Noon on January 5, 2013, at La Scala Italian Bistro in Dublin, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to The Central Ohio Alzheimer's Association, 1379 Dublin Road, Columbus, OH 43215 or HomeReach Hospice/Kobacker House, OhioHealth Foundation, 180 East Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215. I worked with Marilyn for several years at the Nationwide Training Center. I remember a great lady who was full of life, a great professional, fair, fun and always direct when it mattered. She talked often about her great daughter and granddaughter and it was clear how much she loved you. Please accept my condolences. These last years must have been difficult for all of you.

Ann, wish I could be there to hug you and Jess. I am sad and my heart hurts, but I know that doesn't compare with what you are working through right now. Just know she loved you and she loved life. She touched many people and they were all better for that. She was loved and respected by many and she will be greatly misses. May God provide the comfort you need at this difficult time.
