Albert Gartner Obituary

GARTNER Albert B. Gartner, 76, of Westerville, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 16, 2013. He was born May 19, 1936 in Columbus to the late Albert and Evelyn Gartner. Al was a 1954 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas H.S. and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Mid-City Electric, retiring in 1998. Al was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Westerville, the IBEW Local #683 for over 50 years, Germania, and the ATA Trapshooting Association. Al always found the good in everything. He had a great attitude, loved to joke and kid, never met a stranger, and loved animals. He enjoyed fishing on his boat in Lake Erie, hunting, trap shooting, and dancing. Most of all, he loved his family. In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his son, Joseph in 2001. Al will be missed by his loving wife of almost 51 years, Lois; son, Bernard (Janice) Gartner; daughter, Marilyn (Rik) Asher; grandchildren, Emily and Rachel Gartner, Deanna and Brant Gartner, Craig (Pamela) Asher, and their son, Preston, and Riky Asher; and three brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in the chapel at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 N. High St., Lewis Center. Fr. David E. Gwinner, Celebrant. Interment to follow service. Family will receive friends Monday, January 21, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., Worthington (Just south of I-270). Al will be sadly missed by all who worked around him. He always brought a little laughter out on the jobsite. He was also a great help because of his knowledge of the work.
