Thomas Christenson Obituary

Christenson Thomas Joseph Christenson, 71, of Bexley, Ohio, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013. He is survived by his five children, Nick, Maren, Elise, Forest, and Zoe; as well as his dear friend, Nancy Verber. Tom was born in Moorhead, Minnesota where he grew up and graduated from Concordia College. He received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Yale University before beginning his teaching career at Augsburg University. He then returned to teach at his alma mater, Concordia, before coming to Capital University in Bexley where he spent over 20 years as a valued member of the faculty. At Capital University Tom served for four years as assistant dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and was the faculty representative to the university's board of regents. He was also founding director of Capital University's Center for Faith and Learning as well as the founder and long time editor of "Intersections: Faith + Life + Learning", a newsletter of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Division of Higher Education and Schools. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 3:30 p.m. at Mees Hall, Capital University. Those wishing to honor Tom's memory with a tribute are encouraged to donate to Capital University's Center for Faith and Learning or the Lutheran Social Services Food Pantry.
