James Jenkins Obituary

SHANNON – James Paul Jenkins Sr., 71, passed away Wednesday January 20, 2016, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. He was born in Cullman County, Alabama, on Dec 17, 1944. He was born to Eugene C. Jenkins and Florence E. (Vest) Jenkins.
He wrestled under the name Danny Wallace in the South Eastern wrestling conference in the seventies. Part owner of D & J's Restaurant on Smith Lake in Alabama. He worked in construction and heavy equipment throughout Mississippi and Alabama over the years as well as an over the road truck driver.
He is survived by four sisters, Marie Wilson, Mary Sue Jenkins, Shirley Alvis and Imogen Hill. Five children, James Paul (Susan) Jenkins Jr., Rhonda Renee Jenkins, James Daniele (Hanna) Jenkins, Johnny L. Martin and Tonya Michelle Harrell. Four adult grandchildren, Victoria E. (Farris) Morris, Aaron W. Jenkins, James (Jamie) M. Martin, Michaela Bryant and five younger grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Hythen Watson, Nancy McCollum and his brother Douglas (Doug) Jenkins.
A private graveside service will be held at Doty Chapel cemetery in Shannon at noon on Saturday, January 23, 2016. A meal and fellowship for the family and close friends at Shannon Church of Jesus Christ immediately following the service.
