Tim Edge Obituary

Timothy Wayne "Tim" Edge, 37, of 1 Clayton Road, Mantachie, MS, passed away doing what he loved--riding and training horses. He and the horse he was riding were struck by lightning Wednesday, April 27, 2016.

He was born September 1, 1978, in Tupelo to Wayne and Jennie Cayson Edge. Tim attended Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, KS. He received his B.S in Industrial Technology from the University of West Alabama. He was self-employed as a prestigious, nationally sought, and highly recommended horse trainer. Tim had his own style of training and developed the foundational skills in quarter horses and thoroughbreds, advancing them to all levels of national competitions.

Tim was an accomplished true American Cowboy. Tim's many Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) and Extreme Cowboy Association (EXCA) buckles and awards attest to his love of horses and his endless "love of the ride." Tim's passion for horses began at a very young age. Tim possessed a God-given talent and ability to understand and communicate with his most beloved animal. Some of his Mississippi High School Rodeo Association (MHSRA) titles include 1995 4th Place Bareback Riding, 3rd Place Bullriding Champion, 2nd Place Saddle Bronc, and J-Marena All Around Cowboy; 1996 Champion Bareback Rider, Reserve Champion Saddle Bronc Riding, Reserve Champion, and Copiah All Around Champion. Some of his PRCA titles include 2001 PRCA Ozark Region Reserve Champion, 2002 Saddle Bronc Champion, Molalla, OR; 2004 Sisters 64th Saddle Bronc Champion; 2005 and 2006 Dodge Southeastern Circuit Final Champion, 2005 Dodge National Circuit Final Champion in Pocatello, ID; 2006 Okeechobee Cattleman Saddle Bronc Champion, and countless more. Some of his EXCA titles include 2014 Soca Highpoint Pro Champion; 2014 Soca Regional Pro Champion; 2014 Mississippi Pro champion; 2015 Soca Southeastern Regional Champion; 2015 Mississippi Pro Champion and countless more, as well. When he decided to open his own training business, he stepped away from the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association while in the top 15 of Saddle Bronc riders in the world.

Tim was a Christian, deacon, and member of Trinity Baptist Church in Fulton, Mississippi. Tim was a guitarist, wordsmith, and songwriter. Tim loved to record his songs, stories, and life-journeys in written form. But above all of his accomplishments and successes, Tim's most treasured success and legacy he leaves behind is his precious daughter, Selah Rose. His time, energy, and pride were invested most joyously in the precious moments he spent with Selah and his wife, Lacie. Selah was the apple of his eye, and his big heart was wrapped around her tiny little finger.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Don Baggett, Bro. David Haynes, and Bro. Rodney Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery near Mooreville. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Fulton is entrusted with the arrangements.

Tim is survived by his wife of 10 years, Lacie Wiygul Edge, and daughter, Selah Rose, 2 1/2 years old; his parents, Wayne and Jennie Edge of Mantachie; sister, Dawn Edge (Jim St. Charles) of Olympia, WA; parents-in-law, Jerry and Rhonda Wiygul of Fulton; sister-in-law, Michelle Harris (Jason); nephew, J. Harris, and niece, Emma Harris; and a host aunts, uncles, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Byron and Magdeline Edge, James and Cora Cayson, and Joan Phillips.

Pallbearers will be Travis Collingsworth, John Coker, Michael Lindsey, Jake Littlefield, Chip Dees, Matthew Rock, Brandon Holmes, Dustin Davis, and Josh Hunt.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Tim Edge to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lacie my heart breaks for you during this time. I am so sorry I couldn't attend the service, but my church was cooking a meal at the Ronald McDonald house.
